Answering The Jack Swagger Question

A number of days ago, a familiar question was brought up. I'm here today with the best answer I could find.

Since creating WWELeaks.org, I have sided on the possibility that the source informing Dolphins1925 of World Wrestling Entertainment results is simply looking at how the betting odds change during the weekend of each pay-per-view. Certain visitors to this blog have asked two questions to counter this opinion.

The first was concerning Damien Sandow and his odds on winning one of the Money in the Bank matches last year. According to the reader, Sandow's victory was a shock and - as Dolphins had called for it - it proved the inside source was telling the truth.

I countered with evidence to prove that Sandow was an odds-on favourite in Money in the Bank betting.

Another question centred on Jack Swagger at last February's Elimination Chamber.

When I was first confronted with this, I replied that 'he was a favourite from a betting perspective' because he was.

Hindsight proves he was more than that.

Swagger had just returned with Zeb Colter and the company had set the stage for a discrimination/racism storyline. As the World Heavyweight champion at the time was the Mexican Alberto Del Rio, it wasn't that much of a surprise to see Swagger win the Elimination Chamber match and secure a title shot against Del Rio.

Still, the question was raised once again last weekend.

I did some research, as I didn't have the odds at hand, and found an article from the Saturday before Elimination Chamber that proves Swagger was the favourite at that point in the betting.

The Cageside Seats website noted that Jack Swagger was priced at -750 (1.13 EU, 2/15 UK) with 5Dimes.eu.

For the record, the odds for the bout looked like this at the time the article was published:

Jack Swagger -750
Randy Orton +1,600
Kane +6,000
Daniel Bryan +6,000
Mark Henry +1,300
Chris Jericho +1,000

That's good enough for me.
