How The John Cena .Vs. Bray Wyatt Odds Moved In WrestleMania XXX Betting

I have covered how the odds for the WrestleMania XXX match between Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker changed in the hours leading up to the end of The Undertaker's streak a number of days ago and thought it was worth looking at how the price for John Cena fell in his battle against Bray Wyatt.

The graph below shows how their odds changed from the moment they were opened right up to the eve of WrestleMania XXX.

As you can see, John Cena was an underdog from the moment the book was opened. He remained in the outsider role all the way through to Saturday evening despite there being a dip around April 1st. His price dropping more than likely had something to do with the angle that took place on Monday Night Raw on the 31st, which saw Cena infiltrate the Wyatt Family and do a number on them.

With that said, in similar situations in the past where an underdog is booked strong in the go-home episode of Raw, I have noticed that bettors have wagered on the opponent because some have realised the even-steven approach the writers tend to take with their story telling.

The WrestleMania Sunday action was even more interesting.

The daytime wagering appears to have been placed on Bray Wyatt as his odds went from the -400 he was priced up at early on Sunday morning. By 5:30pm BST, he was marked up at -900 with Cena drifting out from +280 to +500.

The odds for both wrestlers drove back closer together as the evening wore on. As Hulk Hogan took centre stage to start off the show, both Cena and Wyatt were still underdog and favourite respectively.

Somewhere between the start of the show and the music video for the match aired, wagers went in on John Cena. He went from a +320 underdog to -420 favourite.

The late movement once again is a sign that smart money landed on the right person as John Cena did end up walking out of New Orleans with the W.
