Ambrose Loses

Dean Ambrose's loss via disqualification to Bad News Barrett at WWE Fast Lane was an upset from a betting perspective.

The former Shield member had entered the match as a -4,500 favourite at the 5Dimes Casino & Sportsbook. He also closed as a 1/10 shot with SkyBet.com.

Barrett's victory paid out on odds of +1,500 with 5Dimes and 11/2 with Sky Bet.

  1. Maybe it's got something to do with the publicity that was generated during the week with Wayne Rooney and the fact that the PPV was free-to-air in the UK!!

    1. I sensed Barrett would win after the angle on Raw. Had said as much in a reply to a comment in the first 5Dimes Fast Lane post.

With that said, I didn't bet on the match in the end.

    2. The result was probably changed and since ambrose walked out with the title the insiders probably thought he was going to win? I think both Goldust and Ambrose results changed late....the reason I say Ambrose changed was because his odds were -1700 both intial and end of broadcast but when the odds swung after 11pm the end of broadcast stayed at -1700 but initial odds went from -1700 to -200 which tells me the insider thought intially barrett would win but ambrose would 'walk out with the title' as he did after he was DQ'd and also Goldust was changed because the result did not matter plus the finish looked like it wasn't rehearsed.

    3. I don't think the result changed.

What I think is whoever moved the odds were using the music cues to place their bets. It was Ambrose's theme tune that was set to play after the match, so they might have assumed he was going to win.

Not saying I'm right, but it's something to think about.

    4. Those are very plausible theories! Well done, guys.

    5. If that was the case then why would the odds for ziggler/rowan/ryback go from -230 to -1200 (i know you state -900 but it went as far as -1200) when all the odds started changing but then reverse about 20 mins later? to +400...i mean if we use the the theory of music cues then it was kane's music that was played after the finish so why would the odds change in favour of ziggler's team. I've got a feeling finishes changed last minute but thats my personal opinion.

    6. It's hard to use the six-man as a defence in this because smart money did come in on the result in the end.

The change was weak. I noted that myself. This could have been down to numerous factors: match was a late addition to the card, the book added it late so was getting balanced action on either side, regular punters realised smart money had started to come in on other markets and saw the babyfaces as favourites here so bet into that number before the inside money actually did come in amongst other possibilities.

I believe the BNB odds would have shifted if there had been a late change (see Bray Wyatt vs John Cena at WrestleMania 30).
