    1. Hi Paul,

I hope the company does make it a permanent venture because it'll be another option. The fact they're doing MITB odds this early is a good sign.

As for UFC 186 - I'll more than likely do something. If I do, it'll be Friday evening/Saturday morning. I'm not as hardcore about MMA as I am with pro wrestling and American football so I certainly look forward to your comments and insight.

  2. Wrestling fans and UFC fans experience a fair degree of cross over. The largest PPV audience for a UFC event featured Brock Lesnar in the main event: UFC 100 had a buyrate of 1.7 million. The second largest PPV audience also featured Lesnar in the main event. The top brass at Zuffa- the company that owns the UFC- have begun to incorporate WWE-style showbiz promotion and histronics into their product. They are blantly trying to jazz up the UFC by incorporating WWE style trashtalking into their promotion. Conor McGregor is a perfect example of this when he leaped over the cage and mouthed off at Jose Aldo.
The UFC know that they are on to a winner with all the heightened drama. They offered CM Punk a contract without any legitimate combat experience. This was heavily criticized by MMA purists, but the might of American capitalism strong-armed any potential detractors into submission. Lesnar had NCAA credentials and struggled to gain entry into the promotion, but Punk is accepted with open arms because they know that he is a cash-cow who has near to 3 million twitter followers. Zuffa wants some of the WWE money to spill over into the UFC.
The dumbass MMA fighters like the Diaz brothers will laugh at wrestling and everything it stands for, but the smart fighters like Ronda Rousey, Donald Cerrone and Daniel Cormier respect it and have welcomed the crossover.
I, along with millions of WWE fans, will no doubt be watching with great intetest and enthusiasm when Punk makes his UFC debut.
With regards to Extreme Rules. Big Show to win @ 5/1 might be a realistic possibility? As an event, next month's offering, Payback, is so-called because there are usually one or two revenge matches that take place at it. Usually a heel gets the win at the event preceeding it and this happens to be Extreme Rules. Look at Wyatt/Cena last year. Maybe Big Show goes over here and Reigns goes over at Payback? Is 5/1 a stretch too far, David? If not Big Show, then maybe some other heel will pick up a win at Extreme Rules and the face will reclaim the loss at Payback? Opinions?

    1. Good stuff, Paul.

As for Show - I'm not sure. I think they'll have to try and protect Reigns as he lost last month. If the plan is for the pair to wrestle at Payback, then yes, I think it should end with Big Show winning (after interference etc)
