Going Through Coral's Payback Odds

It has been a little over a day since I published a post looking at the Payback 2016 odds from Coral.co.uk.

I have returned to the markets to see whether there has been any change since yesterday. The full board can be viewed below:

From the bottom upwards, here are the differences I have noticed.
  • No change in the WWE Women's Championship market
  • Kevin Owens was originally 8/15, so the customers have been betting on him, Sami Zayn had been 11/8.
  • Same goes for the The Miz. He too opened at 8/15, but has been backed into 4/9. It goes without saying that Cesaro was 11/8.
  • The Dean Ambrose .vs. Chris Jericho market is the same as it was yesterday
  • Dolph Ziggler's odds have fallen from 11/8 into 8/13 while Baron Corbin has gone out from 8/15.
  • Roman Reigns opened at an industry best 1/3 and has evidently been backed into 1/6 now. This is more in line with everywhere else. As a result of the change, AJ Styles' price has gone out to 7/2 from 2/1.
  • Just like with every other bookmaker, customers have moved Enzo and Cass into favourites through the past day. They were originally 6/4 while The Vaudevillains were a shorter 4/9.
  • Kalisto's price to win the pre-show bout has shortened from 10/11 to 1/2. Ryback has gone the other way from 4/5.

    1. If you had asked me yesterday, I would have agreed!

    2. I've just backed them. I think Mania was the exception in that the smart money came in on Saturday. Heels usually tend to win tournaments in WWE or the face wins & gets cashed in on. I expect the smart money to come in later & wouldnt be shocked if Corbin goes back fav too.

    3. I've been on the Vaudevillains to feud with New Day since I read the Smackdown spoilers when they were first brought up.

I wrote on Saturday that I wasn't 100% convinced it was smart money because all the bets went the way of the underdogs in all of the markets.

But now that I've seen Vaudevillains drifting, I always start doubting myself.

Same with Corbin, to be fair. I've backed him at 3/1 when 888Sport had him up at that price on Friday night and I have now backed Ziggler to get a return either way. Will make the most with a Corbin win.

    4. To me it doesn't make sense to have Enzo & Cass win here. Sure, the fans love them, but they also love the new day. What makes 100% complete sense to me is the Dudleyz to interfere and help Vaudevillans win, that way E&C still look strong and New Day get a heel tag tean to face.

But it is the WWE, so anything can happen. I still don't think smart money has happened yet, normally the odds are hit a lot harder then this

    5. Reason I say Vaudevillains win is due to the fact that it sets up 2 separate feuds - Enzo & Cass v Dudleyz & New Day v Vaudevillains. Its a 1 & done match, unlike most of the other matches which we will see again at Extreme Rules.

Ziggler could win via roll up, Corbin pops up & gets his heat back & wins decisively in 3 weeks.

    6. I see Ziggler as like a gift for new-comers from NXT to look strong against. I expect Corbin to win rather strongly and to possibly move on. Ziggler got the best of Corbin on raw so it would be strange to me to see him beat him aswell, especially at a PPV that favours Heels

  2. I can see Enzo & Cass winning and then Dudley Boyz cost them at extreme rules which will keep enzo & Cass on the hot streak and then set up feud with Dudley Boyz even though they have beaten the Dudley Boyz already or keep feud with vaudevillans going.

  3. Agree with David that smart money could have landed just like as WM and then fan betting bring the odds back since they think Corbin would/should win. He won at WM so does he really need to win at payback?

    1. If he loses, winning at wrestlemania was pointless

    2. Cesaro and Big Show say 'Hi!'

    3. Bit different though - Baron is new to the roster, and they should be pushing him up the card, not getting beat by someone is generally there to put people over / sell well. Still annoyed at Jericho beating AJ at Wrestlemania as (again) it was completely pointless

    4. This is WWE.

Hideo Itami should have won last year's battle royal, Tyler Breeze lost on his WWE main roster debut, Chris Jericho defeated AJ Styles at this year's WrestleMania, Sting jobbed to HHH last year...

    5. I remmeber ziggler being fav to beat breeze at a PPV, and breeze won
