Another Look Over The Sasha Banks Mystery Partner Odds

It has been over a week since a prop market was installed where customers could wager on the wrestler that teams up with Sasha Banks to take on Charlotte and Dana Brooke at Battleground on Sunday, so it's time for another update.

Here's how the betting has gone so far.

To Be Sasha Banks' Partner At Battleground 2016 Betting Odds

When the market was first installed, Bayley and Paige were the joint-favourites. At the time, I noted that Nia Jax was worth considering because she hadn't filmed anything for upcoming episodes of NXT. The only catch was her name wasn't on the list. She was added a few days later and I did take the 5/2 on offer because I thought it was worthy of a bet considering the possibility she would be drafted the following day.

As we now know, Jax was drafted to the Raw brand alongside Sasha Banks, Charlotte and Dana Brooke. The odds now falling to 1/2 point to other punters noting the foursome will be working the same TV show from Monday onwards and jumped on as well.

One of the early favourites, Bayley, was not drafted. This does not mean she won't be introduced to the main roster via this match although I highly doubt it for numerous reasons. For example, she's challenging Asuka for the NXT Women's Title at NXT TakeOver (not that that has prevented others from working NXT and the main shows). Another one that is striking is the fact that WWE has brought up a lot of ladies from NXT lately. Losing Bayley this soon will spread the division even thinner.

Nikki Bella's price dropping from 5/1 to 7/2 from yesterday to today does not surprise me. She has announced that her doctors have given her the all-clear to return to the ring. In her tweet, she showed a picture of WWE's Performance Center the implication being she would have to go there to re-acclimate herself like all other wrestlers returning from injury lay-offs.

I guess some punters took a gamble on the information being subterfuge and she will end up being the surprise partner.

What I did find surprising when looking through the odds this week is that Nikki's sister - Brie - didn't have her price drop at any point. I know she is semi-retired and working on building a family with Daniel Bryan. However, I thought some bettors - or even the oddsmakers - would have made her price a little lower now that Bryan is back to TV in a prominent role. The downside - the three wrestlers in this market are all Raw-based and Bryan is on Smackdown.

This isn't a recommendation to bet on her - it's just that I was surprised her odds went up rather than down with the Daniel Bryan reveal.

Another subtle hint that I was alerted to by one of the regular visitors - Thor - was made by Summer Rae. She has retweeted a GIF that somebody had posted of her and Sasha in a backstage segment on one of the TV shows.

The problem with this? Summer Rae isn't on the betting list.

I might have rose-tinted glasses on because I have a bet with her name on it, but I really do think Nia Jax is the best option on the board. I'm unsure whether I would have backed her at 1/2, though.

The market can be found at LeoVegas.com and the websites that appear on this list.

  1. Too bad this isn't on Bodog or 5Dimes. I'd really like to throw something on Nikki.
