SummerSlam 2016 : Heel Favourites To Babyface Favourites

Here's some food for thought that has been brought up in the comment section of the most recent post.

Here are the SummerSlam favourites at 5Dimes.com as of 9:30pm BST:

Brock Lesnar, Finn Balor, Dean Ambrose, Charlotte, The Miz, AJ Styles, Gallows/Anderson, JeriKO, Rusev and Sheamus.

How many babyfaces are on this list if you take out Brock Lesnar and Dean Ambrose because they're both in matches against other good guys?

I count one: Finn Balor. That's seven heels to one babyface. Quite an unbalance, right?

  1. I could see Cena's odds flipping/ him winning on Sunday.

    2. Did anyone really think Jericho was going to beat Styles at Wrestlemania? NO! But the WWE realizes they need to do stuff that catches fans off guard. This will do that. Also, Cena currently is just floating around the WWE. They could have Cena win this and then set him up for the United States Championship again. You can't do that after a loss. (Well the WWE can cause they do whatever they want, but getting a bump from a loss doesnt make much sense from a fans perspective.)

    3. Thanks.

Cena can't go for the US Championship, though.

  2. Also, isnt Ziggler a heel/ making him a heel?

    1. Not really. If anything, Ambrose had been the subtle heel for most of the build.

  4. This is it... This is where the insiders are going to bet heavy on the winners and make a small fortune... We just have to figure out which of these heels are not winning.

  5. Doesn't feel so much to me that Dean is playing the heel as it does they're trying to position Dolph as the sympathetic underdog considering Ambrose usually plays that role but is currently the one wearing the title. Feels like Rock vs Jericho or any of Austin's face vs face feuds Crowd response hadn't helped however. Dolph somehow comes off more heelish, given he beat Wyatt by using the exposed turnbuckle and his attack on Ambrose to end their segment got surprisingly a lot of boos Tuesday. He gave Shane and Daniel a "Screw you," backstage snd the following week Babyface GM Bryan threw it back in his face with a smile.

On the other hand, Dean managed to end the show to a sea of "Yes" chants after planting him with Dirty Deeds to end SD a week ago and got some boos after their very first exchange on the microphone a few weeks back but the crowd had seemed to forgotten that and treated him as the face to conclude. This just feels like a shades of grey ordeal but I'm intrigued to see if either man definitively turns on Sunday.

Dolph has already shown to be beyond desperate and Ambrose is most certainly beginning to get uncomfortably attached to the title. Would make sense for either guy turning and I'm really intrigued to see which way they go (If they even go that route.)

    1. Ziggler's twitter handle is still "HEELZiggler." It's been like this for a while though.
