Backlash 2017 And Smart Money

With hindsight being what it is - just like last month, I believe it's safe to point to Friday being the day when smart money came in on the eventual Backlash 2017 winners.

In the table below, I've listed the victors from last night's pay-per-view. Along with the names are their prices on Friday morning and then - to contrast - I've added the odds you would have found them later that night once the traders had slashed the prices.

The Kick Off match wasn't available on Friday morning, but - other than that - every single wrestler on the board was backed during Friday evening's betting frenzy.

This isn't the first time this happened. In a post published in the early hours of Saturday morning, after the shifts occurred, I pointed out that a similar thing happened for Payback where the six wrestlers that were backed on the Friday ended up winning their respective matches two nights later.

The two matches that weren't backed ended up having flips later that weekend, which would play into the theory that Austin Aries' and Alexa Bliss' wins at Payback were late calls made over the weekend rather than before Friday.

I strongly believe that there were no late decisions made on Backlash weekend.

All the contradicting shifts beyond Friday's betting, both here and overseas, was fan money either buying into the false stories circulating about Smackdown titles not changing hands for the foreseeable future or simply people disbelieving that Jinder Mahal would end up claiming the strap.
