Six MITB Competitors Confirmed For June 18th

World Wrestling Entertainment began its build to the June 18th Money in the Bank show on last night's episode of Smackdown when six names were added to the ladder match that will take place during the pay-per-view.

The wrestlers who are now confirmed for the match are: Baron Corbin, Kevin Owens, Shinsuke Nakamura, AJ Styles, Sami Zayn and Dolph Ziggler.

An outright betting market - where customers could wager on who they believed will win the match - was installed by the Kambi oddsmakers in the middle of April. The list consisted of most of the male athletes from the Smackdown roster. I have now placed the confirmed names in a single table to point out how their odds have moved at certain points since publication.

As you can see, Baron Corbin has been the favourite from day one. Corbin winning the briefcase - to challenge for the WWE Championship at any time upon his request - makes sense considering he is in the midst of a push.

With that said, Corbin did drift out within the first twenty-four hours of the market being opened as the punters opted to back Shinsuke Nakamura at 5/2 to send him into 2/1.

When the market was republished a month later, the price for Kevin Owens has been snipped from 5/2 into 9/4. Other changes saw Nakamura and Sami Zayn drift out.

With Extrme Rules next up, I doubt we'll see the new Money in the Bank markets until closer to the pay-per-view. I'm intrigued to see how the market is readjusted now that we have a better idea who is actually in the match.

  1. I strongly believe a heel with the money in the bank briefcase is a lot more fun/entertaining to have.

Unless kevin owens loses his US title earlier in the night before this match, be won't win. Dolph Ziggler also has little chance.

Sami or Shinsuke would be great but a heel should hold the case.

Chances are Corbin is winning it, but AJ Styles will remain as my dark horse selection which I will bet on. He doesn't need it but AJ Styles with the briefcase, knowing at anytime his theme will hit and run down to the ring and hit a phenomenal forearm on someone for the title.... Beautiful.

    1. Sami Zayn was my dark horse. Backed him a few weeks ago. I had this idea where he does the methodical planning of cashing in and it goes on for months, but in the end he cashes in on somebody out of the blue and turns heel in the process.

Heard someone else come up with a similar idea on a podcast I listened to days later, so It isn't a unique take.

    2. That would be amazing to be fair.
