World Wrestling Entertainment has announced that John Cena will be the fifth - and final - member of Smackdown's team for the Survivor Series.
Cena will join Bobby Roode, Randy Orton, Shinsuke Nakamura and team captain, Shane McMahon for the elimination match against Raw's Kurt Angle, Jason Jordan, Samoa Joe, Braun Strowman and Finn Balor.
There were reports that Cena would be the guest referee for the Brock Lesnar versus Jinder Mahal match. However, with AJ Styles becoming WWE Champion on last night's edition of Smackdown, the Survivor Series main event was changed to Lesnar vs Styles.
If the plan was for Cena and Mahal to build to something for the future from the Survivor Series, it no longer made sense for Cena to be guest referee without Mahal a part of the equation.
Now , this means Cena will be a Smackdown guy for atleast next 6 months
ReplyDeleteThis pretty much confirms that Vince thought Mahal vs lesnar isn't a good idea
I fully expect Cena to be on Raw with the Rumble build.
DeleteIt doesn't confirm anything about Vince/Mahal.
If Cena - Mahal is the plan, then he should be on Smackdown though.
DeleteHe's a 'Free Agent'. If he wins the Rumble the whole, 'who will he choose?' thing won't work if he hasn't been on Raw since September.
DeleteI'm starting to think there's a decent chance Styles walks away from this Jinder feud with the strap. He isn't an unknown quantity like Nakamura; he's one of their top merchandise sellers and is an established main eventer. I am definitely considering a punt on Shinsuke Nakamura to win the Royal Rumble match.
ReplyDeleteOne of the things that would put me off is they had Nakamura go 0-2 in his feud with Jinder and that doesn't fill me with confidence despite them giving him wins over Cena and Orton.
DeleteI bet on Nakamura in April, so I get something back if it's him anyway.
DeleteRAW has better roster, but SD has better team. Thanks Jason Jordan
