Kambi Settles Wrestle Kingdom 12 Wrestling Observer Star Ratings Markets

This week's issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has been published. Therefore, anybody who had a bet on Dave Meltzer's star ratings for last week's NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 12 have now had their wagers settled by the traders at Kambi.

The IWGP US Championship match - which saw Kenny Omega successfully defend the strap against Chris Jericho - was awarded five stars by the newsletter's editor.

The over/under line for the match was initially priced up at five stars. However, it soon became clear that punters thought the bar was set too high. They backed the under and this forced the oddsmakers to set the line at 4.5.

We therefore have two sets of winning options.

The 'Exactly 5 Stars', which opened at 13/10 on December 22nd but drifted out to 31/20 by the end of the day, would have been the right call to make at this line.

The 'Over 4.5', which was 6/5 following the line adjustment, and remained that way right up to shortly before the bout, was the winning selection here.

Four-and-a-half stars was awarded to the main event which saw Tetsuya Naito fail to unseat Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.

The opening line was set at six stars. The punters rightfully thought the line was was too high and immediately backed the 'Under'. They continued to bet on the 'Under' even when the line was cut by half a star. By Thursday morning, the eventual winning selection was 1/2.
