A Look Over Kambi's Fast Lane 2018 WON Markets Now That This Week's Issue Is Out

Now that this week's issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has been published, punters who backed some of Kambi's Fast Lane 2018 Observer specials bets are now due to have their wagers settled.

Ahead of last weekend's show, customers of the websites that publish Kambi's markets were offered three kinds of wagers - one where they could bet on the match they felt would end up receiving the most stars in Dave Meltzer's review of Fast Lane, a handful of Over/Under markets where clients could predict whether Meltzer's match gradings were over, under or exactly on the bookie's estimate and there was also a special where customers could get 10/1 on a match receiving over five stars.

Highest Rated Match

Sunday's main event received four-and-a-quarter stars. This was the most that Dave Meltzer gave out for the PPV.

The bookmakers offered punters three options in their highest rated match market. These were 'WWE Championship' (six-pack challenge), WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship (The Usos .vs. New Day) and 'Any Other Match'.

As you can see in the table above, the customers liked the chance that the main event would end up getting the most stars in the editor's review of the event as the odds fell from an opening 4/6 to 2/5 by Sunday evening.

The qualifying matches that would have counted for 'Any Other' would have been Shinsuke Nakamura versus Rusev and Bobby Roode versus Randy Orton. Both bouts earned three-and-a-half from the writer.

Over/Under Prop Bets

Every single match on the main card was given an over/under line by the bookies. Here's how the betting went.

Shinsuke Nakamura .vs. Rusev
The opening match on the main card - which saw 2018 Royal Rumble winner, Shinsuke Nakamura, defeat Rusev - was given, as mentioned above, three-and-a-half stars by Meltzer.

As you can see in the table below, the line was set at three stars by the Kambi oddsmakers. The 'Under 3 Stars' selection was backed in the latter stages of betting as it fell from 6/5 into 3/4 shortly before it closed.

The punters were evidently on the wrong track with this one.

WWE United States Championship
Kambi set the line for Bobby Roode's WWE US Championship defence against Randy Orton at three-and-a-quarter stars. The bettors thought it was too high and, by Sunday morning, the price for the 'Under' had been backed from 19/20 into 17/20.

We now know the match received three-and-a-half stars, so this is another case of the betting appearing to have sided with the wrong selection.

Becky Lynch and Naomi .vs. Natalya and Carmella
There's nothing I can gauge out of the betting for Natalya and Carmella's win over Becky Lynch and Naomi.

As you can see, the market remained stationary throughout. The line was set at 2.25 Stars, so anybody backing the 'Exactly' have had their wagers settled in their favour.

WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship
The gamblers thought that the bookies had placed the line for The Usos .vs. The New Day too high as the 'Under 3.75 Stars' dropped from its opening 5/4 into 17/20 by Sunday evening.

This bout ended in a no contest and was graded two-and-a-half stars, so the 'Under' backers chose the correct path.

WWE Smackdown Women's Championship
Charlotte Flair's successful defence of the WWE Smackdown Women's Championship, over Ruby Riott, was awarded two-and-three-quarter stars by the newsletter's editor.

The line for this match was set at 2.5 Stars. In the table above, you can see the bettors thought it would go over as the price dropped from 21/20 into 3/4 across the weekend. They were on the right side.

WWE Championship
As we know, AJ Styles' WWE Championship retention in the Six-Pack Challenge main event was graded four-and-a-quarter stars in the review.

As you can see from the wagering, the bets came in on the match to go under the line of four stars. Anyone who backed the 'Over' at 19/20 - or the increased 13/10 later in the weekend - were the winners of this one.

Any Match To Receive 5 Stars Or More

With the main event being graded four-and-a-quarter stars, it should go without saying that the special - where customers could bet on Meltzer rating a match five stars or more - has been settled as a loss.

And that's all. If Kambi publishes Observer odds for WrestleMania, I'll have them covered here.
