Kofi's Momentum In Storyline And In Betting

I don't know whether I should be surprised or not to see Kofi Kingston's odds to win the WWE Championship sliding in markets for tonight's Elimination Chamber match.

Following his performance in the gauntlet match on Tuesday night, I guess I should have expected Kingston to see some interest from punters believing he is the one with the most momentum  from the gauntlet match.

I didn't expect to see some European books move him into second-favourite, though. I felt that AJ Styles would have been cemented in second place across all European websites, just like he is in offshore sites like 5Dimes.

5Dimes and BetOnline have Kingston at 16/1 while, over here, the shortest I can find is Sky Bet's 6/1. To show just how far he has lowered, Sky Bet had Kingston at 14s the morning after Smackdown.

It's important to note that Kofi Kingston was a replacement for the injured Mustafa Ali. I believe it's very likely that Ali would have came out of Tuesday's gauntlet match with the MVP/Momentum going into tonight had he not been injured.

Another important thing to point out is that - even though it's hard to tell right now - WWE must have an idea for the WWE Championship match for WrestleMania. I doubt the plan would have changed in favour of a late replacement brought on by Ali's injury.

In my opinion, the bookies have the correct favourite in Daniel Bryan.

There are still legs to his current 'New Daniel Bryan' character. The introduction of the eco-friendly WWE Championship belt hasn't ran its course yet.

Bryan 'lost' to Kingston in the gauntlet match, so I believe the favour will be returned tonight with Bryan being the one who'll eliminate Kofi.

I don't know if they do Bryan and Kingston as the final two, but - based on how much people have seemingly been invested in Kofi's momentum  - it is the conclusion that I'd do.

If Luke Harper is going to be a part of the Bryan/Rowan allegiance, I'd have him assist the champ for the win.

  1. I guess WWE could use his momentum to win the andre the giant memorial?

Suppose it's not the craziest idea.

    1. Saying that. Itll probably be Dean Ambrose.

They seem to give it to wrestlers who aren't doing much/leaving.

    2. Ambrose won't be winning the battle royal if he's leaving.

  2. Kevin Owen's to make an appearance, perhaps?

    1. I hope he's back in time for WrestleMania because I have that KOMania T-shirt collection building.
