Kurt Angle's WrestleMania Opponent Odds Update For March 16th

I have just taken my daily look through Sky Bet's market in which customers can place wagers on who they believe will face Kurt Angle in a singles match at WrestleMania 35 to note any changes since I looked at them yesterday afternoon.

The first thing I noticed is that John Cena's price has once again been snipped. The favourite is now at 4/5. This is is a dip from yesterday's EVS and the 5/4 from forty-eight hours earlier.

Kurt Angle's WrestleMania 35 Opponent Betting Odds

With Cena moving in, the second-favourite selection of The Undertaker has risen to 3/1. It was 11/4 yesterday and 5/2 at the start.

Since the last visit, WWE has revealed that Angle will announce his opponent on this coming Monday's episode of Raw. With this being topical, the WWE website has written an article naming 'dream opponents' for Angle. The wrestlers that appear on this list - in order - are: John Cena, Shelton Benjamin, Samoa Joe, Chad Gable, The Undertaker, Rey Mysterio, Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre.

Only Mysterio and Reigns are missing from Sky Bet's list. With that said, I suspect now that they've been named in the article the chance of getting those matches are somewhat slim.

Just like on Thursday when I realised Baron Corbin wasn't available on Sky Bet's list, his name not appearing in WWE's article is glaring when you consider he had been at odds with Angle since last year.

I'd call Corbin a 'Nightmare Opponent' for Angle's last match.

Finn Balor is another name who did not make the article's list of potential opponents. I had backed him at 12/1 when the market was first installed because I would like to see that match. I have since lowered my expectations (see yesterday's post), but I am interested to see whether there is some hope as - on Raw - Balor will team up with a mystery partner to take on Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush. It could be Braun Strowman, I guess, but I have my fingers crossed that it'll be Angle before or after he has revealed who he'd like to face at WrestleMania.

Anyway, back to Sky Bet's market - two new names have been added since yesterday's update. The new selections are Hornswoggle and the aforementioned Benjamin.

Hornswoggle is 100/1. I recall Angle did comedy angles with minis in the past, but cannot remember if he did anything with Hornswoggle back in 2007. I'm sure it might be a case of my brain blocking something out, though!

Shelton Benjamin is 16/1. He was a member of Team Angle back in the early 2000s and was brought back to Raw on Monday night to face Seth Rollins as the latter prepared for Brock Lesnar. It's understandable, with that history, to see his name requested/added.

  1. I've been thinking more and more about this, and the only sensible/appropiate opponents i can think of:

    - John Cena.
    - The Undertaker.
    - Shawn Michaels.

    Possibility but better options:

    - Finn Balor.
    - Shelton Benjamin.

    Long shot:

    - Edge (if he gets cleared for one final match).

    1. The only sensible to me out of the three is John Cena. Taker .vs. Angle sounds so ugly to me. Shawn Michaels didn't have a good match at all in Saudi Arabia and I would not like he and Angle to wrestle again as it won't live up to Mania 21.

Balor made sense for a few hours ha. Corbin, if you recall, was the first one to come to me on Tuesday. This was mainly because I thought they'd wrestle at Mania back when Angle was sent on hiatus and Corbin took over as GM.

Edge I highly doubt because of the risk involved.

    2. And I'm not taking credit if it is Corbin, BTW. My only bet has been on Balor.

    4. I wouldn't mind seeing what price they'd give for HBK after you brought him up.

    5. Indeed. I can see on the upcoming episodes people coming up to Kurt backstage explaining why they deserve to have the final match with him etc, and then the final episode before Wrestlemania he can come to the ring and say hes made his decision on who he wants to face, but then HBK cuts him off and pulls a promo saying something along the lines of "Who better to face, then Mr Wrestlemania himself!"

    6. Just read that Kurt is announcing his opponent this Monday in.... Chicago.

Does Kurt want to face... The best in the world? (No, not you Shane!).

    7. Also The Rock.

Probably won't be able to, but that would also be a great last match for him too.
