G1 Climax 29 Betting: Night 17

G1 Climax 29 - Night 17

The final round of A Block matches - in this year's NJPW G1 Climax tournament - will begin soon, so I thought I'd publish a post where I point out the closing odds for the bouts that Kambi had markets available for.

Match number three, of the tournament portion of today's card, has KENTA going up against Zack Sabre Jr. The former is on eight points while ZSJ has six.

It's Sabre who closed as the favourite. He was 3/5 to KENTA's 6/5.

Sabre being the favourite wasn't always the case, however. As you can see above, the bookies had KENTA at 4/5 to start off with back in June.

At that point, ZSJ was available at 9/10.

Hiroshi Tanahashi versus Will Ospreay will be the penultimate match on the card. Similar to the above match, it's a battle between eight point and six point wrestlers.

Tanahashi closed as a 7/10 favourite. Interestingly, the market was showing the same pricing as the opening day. However, the early bets evidently sided with Ospreay before he began to drift out as the competition picked up.

The final match of the night will be the A Block decider between Kazuchika Okada and Kota Ibushi.

With Okada sitting on fourteen points and Ibushi on twelve, the story of the bout could be about Ibushi needing the win while Okada could defend and play for the time limit draw.

This was the finish I predicted with both ending the tournament on fourteen points, but Ibushi wins the block due to the tiebreak win over Okada.

Ibushi was backed from 8/13 into 11/20 sometime between 5PM BST last night and 9AM BST this morning. The 11/20 was the closing price.
