2020 Men's Royal Rumble Wins Match Of The Night In Observer Betting Market And More

The men's Royal Rumble match from this past weekend's PPV was given the most stars in Dave Meltzer's review of the event.

The bout, which saw Drew McIntyre stand victorious to book a WWE Championship title shot against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36, was given four-and-a-quarter stars in the report that was published in the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Now that all of the matches have been graded by Meltzer, oddsmakers from the Kambi sports betting service will settle a batch of Observer-themed markets that were created for the show.

The Men's Royal Rumble match was available as a selection in a market in which clients could gamble on the match they believed would receive the most stars in the review.

As you can see below, the selection was 33/20 when the market was initially published on Saturday. However, by early Sunday evening, the selection had lowered to 6/4 joint-favourite. This placed it alongside the Becky Lynch versus Asuka match which received three-and-a-half stars.

Roman Reigns versus King Corbin was a selection which lowered across the weekend. It kicked off at 10/1, but was down to 4/1 with an hour left before the pre-show started.

Meltzer graded the falls count anywhere match three-and-a-quarter stars, so it was a full star behind the winning selection.

With the winning match receiving four-and-a-quarter stars in the review, a market - this time which allowed customers to bet on the 'Exact Star Rating of the Highest Rated Match - will be settled with 'Over 4 Stars' winning at odds of 6/5.

It was up against two other selections - 'Exactly 4 Stars' and 'Under 4 Stars' - which were 21/10 and 4/5 respectively.

The Men's Royal Rumble match was up against the aforementioned Becky Lynch versus Asuka match in a head-to-head special. In this market, customers were given the opportunity to wager on which - of the two bouts - would receive the most stars in Meltzer's review.

As already pointed out, Lynch .vs. Asuka had three-and-a-half stars, so the male battle royal won by three quarters of a star.

The eventual winner was EVS throughout the weekend.

There were other head-to-head specials available for the Rumble event.

In another, the Roman Reigns .vs. King Corbin falls count anywhere match was up against the Bray Wyatt versus Daniel Bryan strap match for the WWE Universal Championship.

The three-and-a-quarter stars for Reigns versus Corbin was beaten by the four stars that Wyatt and Bryan were graded for their encounter.

As you can see below, the punters were seemingly on both of the eventual losers as the odds for the Universal Championship contest were pushed out from 6/5 into 13/10 during the weekend.

The US Championship match, which saw Andrade successfully retain his strap against Humberto Carrillo, was awarded two-and-a-half stars in Dave Meltzer's report. The bout was up against the women's Royal Rumble in another matchbet.

The odds for the 'US Championship' went from EVS to 9/10 by Sunday morning and was then down to 4/5 early on Sunday evening.

As a result of the bets coming in on Andrade and Carrillo to have a better match than the thirty women (well, 29 women and Santino), the oddsmakers moved the battle royal from EVS to 11/10 to 5/4.

The women's match had three-and-a-half stars, so won this head-to-head by one star.

Two proposition markets will also be settled now that the issue has been released.

In the first, titled 'Joint Winners', Kambi asked customers to wager on the prospect of at least two matches receiving the most stars in Meltzer's write-up.

'No' won at odds of 1/3. Its opposition - 'Yes' - lost at 2s.

The prop titled 'Women' asked customers whether or not the highest rated bout of the night would be a match featuring 'only women as active participants'. The winning selection - 'No' - was backed from 5/4 into 19/20 sometime before Sunday morning.

The most topical markets, when it comes to Kambi's Observer coverage for wrestling events, will also be settled imminently (if they haven't by the time you're reading this). They are, of course, the star ratings over/under markets.
