Reports That WWE Is Returning To Saudi Arabia In February

There have been reports that the next WWE show from Saudi Arabia could be on Thursday February 20th.

The news intrigues me because it starts making me question whether the Brock Lesnar in the Royal Rumble angle is to set up his opponent for February rather than WrestleMania.

I think it's safe to guess that - if the event really is in Saudi Arabia - Brock Lesnar will be on the card.

This news has obviously made me start to think more about Lesnar and the Rumble after throwing out some ideas on Tuesday.

  1. Hi. Who you think is winning the Rumble? And what % would you give Lesnar winning it?

    1. I give Lesnar 1% chance of winning the Rumble because the story should be him falling on the banana skin (whether that be right at the start of the match or right at the end).

IF the Lesnar elimination is to set up his Mania opponent, then the Rumble winner should be someone who isn't wrestling for the WWE Championship at Mania, so that leaves Reigns for Universal IMO.

Like I said above, though, the Rumble thing with Lesnar could be to set up an opponent for Saudi and that would open it up for the Rumble winner to challenge whoever leaves Saudi as Champ.

Kevin Owens was my pick for months, but this Lesnar in the Rumble thing has made me go slightly cold on it.

  2. Arghhh ok. So if Kevin Owens was your pick for weeks, who would you say now? And what is your say on CM Punk been involved?

    1. It's up there. I said Reigns.

He has promised two things: he is going to win the Rumble and main event WrestleMania.

Obviously could fail at one of the promises, but he won't fail on both.

Doubt Punk will be involved as he seems adamant that he's not signed with WWE.

I won't complain if it's him as I have a 66/1 bet from when I heard he was negotiating with FOX.

  3. Yeah wouldn't complain either :) got 50/1. Suppose if Reigns still favourite to win this time next week by oddschecker he Winning definitely

    1. He'll likely be favourite all the way through to close.

  4. Suppose we can hope for an upset and Punk to enter number 30 and win :-D

    1. Ha, even though I have the bet and I think it would be a huge deal for wrestling, I'd rather it be someone like Owens or Keith Lee (if it isn't Reigns).

  5. (Off topic but important) Fury has said im the last 24 hours, after his Wilder fight, he is facing Lesnar at Wrestlemania. Fury is known to be a bit too honest at times, so this could be legit.

  6. And heres my thoughts on my previous comment: Lesnar wins the royal rumble. For the few weeks after, Lesnar/Heyman do promos on which champion he wants to face at Wrestlemania.

After 22nd of Feb, when Fury (hopefully) wins the WBC title, Lesnar/Heyman on Raw announce they have chosen their champion to face - and that is the WBC Heavyweight boxing champion, Tyson Fury.

Now I don't know whether they would have a wrestling match, or a bizarre boxing match.

I really don't want this to happen, but it's WWE, and they love their weird/silly events.

    1. Fury has been saying that it's him and Brock at Mania since mid-December but Dave Meltzer has also reported Brock's Mania opponents aren't Cain Velasquez or Tyson Fury

The Rumble shouldn't be won by Lesnar because it would kind of emasculate the full roster as the challenge has been made by Lesnar/Heyman someone has to topple him within the match to create a new challenger.

I said on Twitter last night that, if the Rumble is setting up Lesnar's opponent for Saudi Arabia, then Mansoor would not surprise me.

    2. I completely agree, Lesnar (or anyone that is the WWE Champion) should not win the royal rumble, but I can't help but feel he will... ugh.

And with Fury repeatedly saying over time that he is facing Lesnar at Wrestlemania, I have a fear that is happening aswell...

What on Earth is WWE creative/Vince thinking recently.

    3. It's making me feel ill typing this -

I can just see Lesnar winning the rumble and doing the promo thing I mentioned earlier, then the raw after Fury/Wilder (if Fury wins), Heyman saying:

"Brock Lesnar has been a UFC Heavyweight Champion, He Has Been and continues to be the WWE Heavyweight champion, and now Brock Lesnar looks to become a Boxing Heavyweight Champion - Because the Champion Brock Lesnar chooses for Wrestlemania, is the WBC Heavyweight Boxing Champion Tyson Fury!"

      Cringe.

    4. I really think people are buying too much stock in the Fury thing.

If this really is the match, I think he would have been told not to say anything.

    5. He was announcing his Wilder rematch on 22nd Feb months ago, saying contract is signed - but Wilder said he knows nothing about this.

Then.. what a surprise, it turned out true

Like I say, I think Fury is, perhaps accidentally, too honest at times.

But I think it does heavily depend on Fury beating Wilder.

I sure hope I'm looking back on this in a month or two thinking how silly I was. I really, really do.

    6. Also, he hasn't learnt anything from Rocky III if he's looking beyond Feb 22!

  7. Do you think Lesnar will be eliminated by the winner of the Rumble or just for his next opponent?

Saying that with Reigns odds shortening on sky bet pretty much sure he will be the winner now... Unless there is a tease or something else on tonight's raw or next smackdown

    1. His next opponent and I wouldn't read too much into any odds changes this far out from a British firm. As I said last night, Reigns is always going to be the favourite.

That isn't to say I don't think he'll win because I think he has a strong chance. I just believe that a lot of people think he's going to win and that's why his odds are coming in. Nothing more than that.

  8. Fair enough... Have a feeling number 30 is going to be the winner this year.. time will tell :).... Do you know/remember what odds Reigns was when they opened the betting market?

    1. Reigns wasn't in the Kambi or Sky Bet markets when they were first published as this was in February when Reigns was still battling leukaemia.

The earliest price I have for him - from Sky Bet - is 10/1 from April.

William Hill's market opened on June 8th and he was 14/1.

  9. Ok. Who is your top 5 pick of as now. You think will win?. Thoughts on Cena been in Rumble

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I can't give a top 5 I'm afraid. That's going to be saved for closer to the PPV.

If they're going with Cena's chase for the 17th title for Mania then it should kick off with a Rumble win, IMO.

With that said, he might be too busy to do all that.

  10. I have a double which will win 600 on a reigns win. Praying!

    1. What did you have in the first leg?

    2. Inl had LSU to win national title 4/1, reigns 9/2. £22 stake

      I also have reigns/49ers with a £5 free bet for £1400

  11. Thanks! Im pretty confident. I dont think Vince will see owens as a star big enough to win the rumble. McIntyre will do well cause hes built and the BT sport deal in UK but can't see Vince having another non north American win it after Nakamura. Cain isnt experienced enough and i like your idea of the bannana skin for Lesnar befor saudi. Edge and punk wouldnt need the extra hype of a title match for there return (and i dont see a punk return anyway) reigns has been kept out of the title picture, has as good will with the fans as he'll ever have, and has the story with him over coming cancer. I can't see them passing on that story
