Early And Closing WWE WrestleMania 36 Betting Favourites

With WrestleMania 36 being filmed today and tomorrow, a number of sportsbooks have taken down their betting markets for the show.

I thought that, seeing as I won't get to do the regular 'Closing Favourites' post for this year's Mania, that I'd go through the early and closing prices that were available at two of Britain's main bookmakers when it comes to WWE: Sky Bet and William Hill. The former closed their markets at midday today while William Hill's were removed last night.

For each match - apart from the first, which will eventually be explained - I've highlighted the closing favourites in blue.

King Corbin .vs. Elias
I'm starting off with conflict as the two sportsbooks had differing favourites for the King Corbin .vs. Elias match.

When I came across Sky Bet's market yesterday afternoon, Elias was a 4/6 favourite while Corbin was 11/10. However, despite being the outsider, Corbin's odds had declined to even moneybefore they closed today.

King Corbin opened as a 4/6 favourite with William Hill yesterday. However, Elias' price was down to 4/5 - from 11/10 - before the end of the day.

As you can see, Corbin was 19/20 before William Hill suspended betting last night.

Fatal 5-Way for the Smackdown Women's Championship
Bayley was the closing favourite to successfully retain the WWE Smackdown Women's Championship in the markets for the multi-person match with both firms.

William Hill had the champion as a 9/4 second-favourite behind Sasha Banks (7/4) when I came across the market on Saturday. Bayley was then at 11/8 and Banks at 13/8 before the market was closed.

As for Sky Bet - Bayley was an 11/8 favourite when I came across the market on Saturday and was shortly cut into 5/4 and remained at those odds until close.

Sasha Banks was Sky Bet's second-favourite. She was 13/8 on Saturday evening, drifted to 7/4 shortly after that and was then brought back down to 13/8 sometime before yesterday morning.

Aleister Black .vs. Bobby Lashley
Aleister Black was a favourite to beat Bobby Lashley with both firms.

Sky Bet had him at 1/5 over the 10/3 for a Bobby Lashley victory and William Hill had the favourite at a shorter 1/7 with Lashley at 4/1.

Street Profits .vs. Andrade and Angel Garza
William Hill listed The Street Profits as 4/11 favourites to successfully retain the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship against Andrade and Angel Garza (2/1) when its market went live yesterday.

Over at Sky Bet, the favourites were 1/3 and their challengers were 9/4.

Edge .vs. Randy Orton
Both firms had Edge to beat Randy Orton in what will be his first singles match back from retirement.

Sky Bet had Edge at 1/3 before cutting him to 2/7 while Hills had the Toronto native at 1/8 before pushing him up to 2/9 after snipping Orton's price from 9/2 into 3/1.

I find it quite surprising to see Orton's price lowered bearing in mind this is Edge's return in a one-on-one.

Kevin Owens .vs. Seth Rollins
Both Sky Bet and William Hill closed with Kevin Owens a favourite to beat Seth Rollins.

Initially, Sky Bet had Owens and Rollins at 5/6 each. However, by this morning and after a back-and-forth in the betting since March 21st, Owens was 1/2 and Rollins was out to 6/4.

Owens was 8/11 to the EVS on offer for a Rollins win with William Hill. However, by Sunday evening, the bookmakers had placed Owens down to 4/6 and increased Rollins to EVS.

The market stayed at those prices right up until the close.

The Undertaker .vs. AJ Styles
The Undertaker was an opening and closing favourite to beat AJ Styles with both of the sportsbooks.

William Hill had The Phenom at 1/6 throughout while Sky Bet had him at 1/4.

John Cena .vs. Bray Wyatt
Bray Wyatt was the closing favourite to beat John Cena with both firms.

As you can see below, he fell from 1/2 into 4/11 between March 4th and 22nd over at William Hill.

The  Sky Bet market was opened in late-February. Wyatt was 4/9 on the 29th and was down to 2/5 by Saturday 21st March.

As you can see in the Sky Bet market, John Cena was seemingly backed as he fell from 2/1 into 7/4 (period between 2nd March and 6th March) and then dropped from 11//4 into 7/4 (between 10th and 21st March) in the late rounds of wagering.

Becky Lynch .vs. Shayna Baszler
Sky Bet's market for the WWE Raw Women's Championship had Becky Lynch and her challenger - Shayna Baszler - both at 5/6 when I first came across the market on March 9th.

As you'll be able to see - in the table below - Lynch was snipped into 4/6 and then the two competitors ended up back at 5/6 each.

Baszler's odds fell from the 5/6 into 8/11 and then 8/13 between the 17th and 19th of March. Lynch was then moved from 6/5 into 11/10 by Monday morning.

The last move I caught was a drop in favour of Baszler from 4/6 into 4/7.

There was a slight back-and-forth in William Hill's market for the match. However, this time, Baszler was backed from 4/6 into 4/7 (before March 20th) and then Lynch fell from 5/4 into 6/5 (by March 23rd) and then - sometime yesterday - Baszler's price was taken down from 8/13 into 1/2.

Rhea Ripley .vs. Charlotte Flair
The NXT Women's Championship match markets opened and closed with Rhea Ripley a favourite to successfully retain her title against Charlotte Flair.

Sky Bet had Ripley at 1/2 when I came across the market on February 25th. She was then down to 4/9 by March 4th and was then cut into 2/5 sometime between last night and just before 11:00AM GMT this morning.

Brock Lesnar .vs. Drew McIntyre
The WWE Championship match markets had Drew McIntyre a favourite throughout their respective lifetimes.

Sky Bet's market was created in February. The first price I have is the 8/11 from the evening of the 9th.

The favourite's price was reduced for the majority of the time I noticed adjustments. However, the last drop - which was done sometime before 11:30AM GMT yesterday morning - was in favour of Brock Lesnar as he went from 11/4 into 9/4.

You'll find that McIntyre closed at 1/3.

William Hill's market was published on February 2nd with McIntyre a 1/2 favourite. He was cut into 1/4 by mid-March.

It's worth pointing out that, just like with Sky Bet, the last adjustment was made in favour of Brock Lesnar as his price was down to 2/1 from 11/4 when I checked in yesterday.

McIntyre closed as 4/11 fave.

And that should be WrestleMania 36 as it pertains those two bookmaking companies.

I aim to write a post here and there over the coming days leading up to the show, but I'm not sure how much I can do right now.

With my country on lockdown, I've found that my Internet Service Provider has been a bit ropy.

I guess it's selfish of me to moan about something as small as loss of signal for a few hours while the world is in the trouble its in, but I hope it will explain any downtime between posts over the coming days, weeks and/or months.

I'm absolutely planning to continue posting, but I'm just putting that out there in case something prevents me from doing so.

Like I said, there are bigger things to worry about right now.

I wish you all well.
