'Luke Harper' Is Winning Selection In AEW Exdous Markets

For the past few months, AEW was building to the debut of a character named The Exalted One. On last night's episode of Dynamite, he was revealed to be Brodie Lee.

The reason why this is of interest to betting on wrestling is because the debut means a specials market, which was created by Kambi last summer, will now be settled.

In the special, titled 'AEW Exodus', customers were asked which - out of a handful of names - would be the next to appear on an AEW broadcast.

Lee was in the running under his WWE moniker of 'Luke Harper'.

AEW Exodus Betting Result - March 2020

As you can see in the table above, the eventual winner had started out at 10/1 when the market was first installed. His price declined each time the market was readjusted and, by September 5th, had fallen to 7/4.

I surmise the reason why he was heavily backed is because of the fact that Jonathan Huber, the man behind the Harper gimmick, had requested his release from WWE.

The plea seemingly fell on deaf ears - or blind eyes considering he made it public on social media - as Luke Harper was reintroduced to WWE TV during the late-summer into early autumn. As a result of his reappearance on television, Kambi pushed his odds back out and was at 5/1 on the market's September 19th update and was last seen at 11/2 in late-September.

Harper was not included in the WWE draft that took place on in October and made his final on-screen appearance for WWE at Crown Jewel 2019 on October 31st.

Huber's release was announced on December 8th.

A similar market was published by MyBookie a week before Kambi's was created. The selections on offer - and their prices - were:

Dolph Ziggler +170
Finn Balor +250
Luke Harper +400
Shinsuke Nakamura +450
Zack Ryder +650
The Revival +800
Gallows and Anderson +900
Rusev +1,000
Sasha Banks +1,000
The Field +450

I surmise 'The Field' would include anybody who was contracted to WWE at the time the market was priced up (June 20), so - as far as I can see - the winning selection for this one would also be 'Luke Harper'.
