Kambi's oddsmakers have republished their outright markets for the G1 Climax. As well as that, match markets for the next two events have also gone live.
In this post, I'll take a look at the A Block markets, then cover B Block before focusing on the tournament specials.
Current IWGP World Champion - Shingo Takagi - has had a price reduction following his night one main event victory over Tomohiro Ishii. He is now 8/5 to top the block. He was most recently 19/10.
As you can see, three other selections have had their prices trimmed following the opening batch of matches.
ZSJ, who - as noted - beat Naito, is now 11/1 from 12s, The Great-O-Khan, who was victorious against Tanga Loa and is set to meet one of his nemesis' - Toru Yano - on Thursday, has had his odds halved from 50/1 while Yujiro Takahashi is now 50/1 after starting out at 66/1 before beating Kota Ibushi in the first match of the tourney.
For Thursday, Kambi had the following prices available when night three match markets were released this morning:
Night 3
Toru Yano 13/10
Great-O-Khan 11/20
KENTA 7/20
Yujiro Takahashi 19/10
Tetsuya Naito 1/3
Tanga Loa 2/1
Kota Ibushi 17/20
Tomohiro Ishii 17/20
Shingo Takagi 2/5
Zack Sabre Jr. 7/4
For the second round of matches for B Block, Kambi has:
Night 4
Hiroshi Tanahashi 1/3
Hirooki Goto 2/1
Tama Tonga 11/25
Chase Owens 8/5
YOSHI-HASHI 2/1
Jeff Cobb 1/3
SANADA 13/20
Taichi 11/10
Kazuchika Okada 17/20
EVIL 17/20
There is a new favourite in the market for the B Block winner.
Kazuchika Okada, who defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi in the main event of B Block's opening night, has had his price drop into 23/20 from 7/4. The selection leapfrogged SANADA, who has now been moved into 8/5 second-favourite from 7/5.
The only other wrestler whose price has shortened following Sunday's event is Taichi, who has two points following a decision over Hirooki Goto.
Taichi is now 14/1. He had started out at 25/1 on September 6th, but was most recent 22/1.
If you've been following my posts about the G1, you should be aware that I have swayed away from my initial pick of tournament winner (SANADA) and gone with a scenario in which A Block's Shingo Takagi goes on to win the G1 and - as he is IWGP World Champion - he'll get to choose his opponent for Wrestle Kingdom. The choice will end up being Will Ospreay who had to relinquish the strap due to injury early this year and has since returned claiming to be the rightful champ because he didn't lose the title in competition.
The reason why I am mentioning this scenario now is because, while watching yesterday's show, one of New Japan World's English commentators- Chris Charlton - said that Joe Cobb was his pick to win B Block. After the host said that, I thought how that could fit the Takagi/Ospreay scenario and I once again came up with a narrative that fits.
Cobb is part of Ospreay's United Empire stable, so - if Takagi were to be booked to win the tournament - I could absolutely see Cobb opposing him at the final considering the Ospreay and UE link.
