Championship Matchup Betting

For the past few days, I have been slowly going through the 'Road to WrestleMania 33' specials that have been available to customers of 888Sport.com, 32Red.com and Unibet.com since the start of the week. In this post, I'll take a look through yet another one of these markets.

All three websites have a category titled 'Championship Matchups'. The concept of this market is similar to matchbets that are available on other sports. As an example, some betting firms like to offer matchbets at the beginning of a football season. They have two teams head-to-head in a market and you have to bet on the team that you believe will have the most wins that season.

The WWE matchbet is offering up two names and asks the customer to predict which of the two will win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship first between the time the bet is executed and the close of WrestleMania 33.

There is also a 'Neither win title' option. This cuts out any chance of there being any voided bets when all is said and done in the early hours of April 3rd 2017.

As of the time of writing, the sportsbooks have seven markets to choose from. Here's what they have along with some thoughts:

Seth Rollins 1/2
John Cena 13/10
Neither win title 6/1

I think Rollins has the better chance to get there before Cena.

Kevin Owens 2/1
Bray Wyatt 3/1
Neither win title 1/2

If you've been reading this blog lately, you should be aware that I have pegged Owens or Wyatt to win the Money in the Bank briefcase in June. Therefore, my hat goes off to the traders for putting this one on the board. I could back either Owens or Wyatt and still come up short because the immediate title shot could be cashed in later than WrestleMania 33. This is going by the assumption that either of my MITB picks turns out true.

John Cena 11/10
Brock Lesnar 13/10
Neither win title 5/1

My gut is telling me to back the 'Neither' because it's a decent price. I can't see Lesnar winning the title in the near future, so it's either Cena or the 'Neither'. And the 'Neither' is tempting.

Seth Rollins EVS
Brock Lesnar 7/10
Neither win title 5/1

Cannot look beyond Seth Rollins.

Cesaro 4/1
Ryback 5/1
Neither win title 1/7

I think it's 'Neither'. Not taking the short odds, though.

Dean Ambrose 2/1
Brock Lesnar 4/6
Neither win title 9/4

For some reason, I like the 2/1 on Ambrose more than I do the 'Neither'.

John Cena 3/4
Randy Orton 2/1
Neither win title 2/1

I went against John Cena in the 'Cena .vs. Lesnar' market, so I should really go for the 'Neither' here. However, if I had to make a choice out of the three, I'd go with Cena.

As with all the other specials I have gone through this week, I aim to take a look through the markets a year from now to see how things went.

I don't know how long these markets will be available for. So, if you're interested in having a bet on them, I recommend doing so as soon as you can. There are links below for you to get welcome bonuses when you first join any of these sites. It's worth checking the terms to see if your first bet can be used on these markets.
