WWE Battleground 2016 Betting : US/IC Matches

A short while ago, I published a post noting that the oddsmakers at Coral.co.uk have released betting markets for this Sunday's Battleground pay-per-view.  As Coral is one of the only websites where I can place doubles (as of the time of posting), I thought I'd share with you an idea I came up with.

Before I start, this idea could lose, so bear that in mind before trying this at home!

On last night's WWE Draft, we saw US Champion - Rusev - sent to Raw as the sixteenth overall pick. We also witnessed his opponent for Sunday, Zack Ryder, go to Smackdown as pick number forty-three.

Therefore, this Sunday will see a Raw titleholder take on a Smackdown challenger.

On top of that - WWE Intercontinental Champion, The Miz, was moved to Smackdown immediately after Rusev. His opponent for Sunday - Darren Young - was drafted to Raw later on in the night.

It's highly unlikely that the two titles will end up on the same brand. That's why they were split off in the first place, so I have placed two doubles including the four competitors.

I have staked a £6 double on The Miz (4/7) and Rusev (1/8). It'll return £10.61.

I followed that up with a speculative punt on the two challengers winning the secondary titles and bringing them to their respective brands. Therefore, I have placed a £4 double on Darren Young (5/4) and Zack Ryder (4/1).

If the second double wins, the return will be a £45.

So, if Miz and Rusev win their matches, I get 61p for my effort. On the flip-side, if WWE produces a titles switching brands storyline on Sunday, I'll make £35 profit from my outlay.

If you think this is worth a go, please bear in mind that it could lose as bookmakers pay out on match winner. One of the titleholders could lose their match by count-out or disqualification resulting in them retaining their strap.

The market can be found under TV/Specials at Coral.co.uk

  1. Sound logic that, definitely worth a punt. I feel Rawley will tag with Ryder on SmackDown though so both champions may indeed retain
