Comment Bag : 29 July 2016

Here are some comments that were made on other posts this week.

On Tuesday, following Finn Balor's successful night on Raw, Jordan tried to leave this:

With Finn Balor debuting on Raw with his 'Balor Club' look, and facing Seth Rollins at SummerSlam for the new Raw title, I'm assuming at Royal Rumble the winner can choose which champion to face at WrestleMania like it was before. Because of this I have had a speculative punt on AJ Styles at 17/1 to win the Royal Rumble at 888Sport.com. If Finn is the Raw Champion and takes over The Club, AJ could turn face before then and choose to face Finn, and I think that would be an amazing main event too. Also, they want to push Smackdown hard over the next however long so a Smackdown star winning the Royal Rumble makes sense too.

Here are my thoughts:

I like the thinking, but I am unsure how a Smackdown guy winning the Royal Rumble and then choosing to wrestle for Raw is going to help Smackdown. With that said, Smackdown has had the most Royal Rumble winners during the previous brand split.

One thing worth considering is the fact that AJ Styles has been groomed to be the number one heel on the Smackdown brand, so he could very well be the WWE Champion at the time of the Rumble.

As for Balor - I believe it'll be too soon to turn him heel after what happened on Raw. If anybody has to switch, it should be Roman Reigns. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but Reigns' post-match interview gave me the feeling that Balor versus Reigns, with Reigns the heel, is where this is going. They can put the title on Rollins and have Balor inserted into a deal with Reigns to tide over the better part of the close of 2016.

In yesterday's post, where I went through Ladbrokes.com's Rumble odds, Andres commented that:

I like Balor too. Earlier this week, I backed him to participate in the WrestleMania main event at 20/1 with Betfair.com. He is now 10/1 - a decent price still if you ask me.

My response:

Yes, it's a decent price. I think he'll be in the title match at WrestleMania so it all depends on if that bout is the main event of the evening.

With the show being in Florida, I think 'The Rock' at 10/1 is worth considering and have backed it frequently since the market was first published on April 9th
