Comment Bag : 7 August 2016

The following was left on yesterday's post about Bwin's SummerSlam IC Odds:

Is there any meaning to Balor's odds shortening other than European punters having more faith in him than 5Dimes customers?
I can't picture The Miz getting so far to lose to Crews. Any thoughts?

My thoughts:

Now and again, when odds are up this early before a PPV, I've noticed that the favourites are all backed at once or the underdogs are backed at once at 5Dimes. So, I didn't read too much into it. Add in that Balor is European, so you could - like you stated - have the patriotic punter element backing Balor over here.

As for Apollo Crews - I have bet on the match and have sided with Apollo Crews. The reason being that the brand split is new and they like to switch up the secondary titles. Add in that Smackdown's head writer, Ryan Ward, was behind Crews' debut and early months in NXT so he could see Crews as a top project for Smackdown.

7/5 is a nice price, as well.

  1. PaddyPower refuse to settle my bet until Shaq is in the ring at wrestlemania. Suppose it's fair, but they also said they won't void the bet if he now decides to pull out which would be a bit of a kick in the teeth

    1. I don't see anything wrong with that.

    2. Yeah it's fair enough I just mean it'd be so annoying with it being hyped and confirmed and then he pulls out haha

    3. That's why it's called gambling.

Just to be clear, it isn't 'confirmed' until WWE starts promoting it on its TV so we won't know for certain until WrestleMania season. That's why the firms are still accepting wagers on it and bwin has the 'if match doesn't take place, bets off' rule.

    4. Yeah I suppose. I think wwe are waiting until after summerslam and maybe even survivor series before they start to push hard for it in terms of storyline etc.. Could even be royal rumble time that it kicks off like Shaq being a entrant and eliminating Big Show

    5. Yeah, they should have Shaq in the Rumble and they do the same thing as the Andre Battle Royal with both of them eliminating each other to set up the singles.

    6. Now if only there was a "to participate" in the rumble market available... Shaq might have some decent speculative odds
