Goldberg's Rumble Odds Drift Out At Ladbrokes And More

Bill Goldberg's odds to win the 2017 WWE Royal Rumble have drifted out at Ladbrokes.com.

Despite still being the bookies' favourite, his price has moved up from 5/4 into 7/4. The move is due to other names on Ladbrokes' Royal Rumble Outrights being backed.

The following changes were made yesterday:

Finn Balor from 4/1 to 7/2

All of these price moves came ahead of Balor's appearance at the live Gorilla Position Podcast event held in London yesterday evening. Balor stated - during the show - that WrestleMania is his personal target to return from injury. What else could he have said?

John Cena from 6/1 to 5/1

Not surprising considering Cena's chase for a sixteenth world title could be his WrestleMania storyline. More on this later.

AJ Styles from 12/1 to 9/1

The only reason I could muster as to why it appears the WWE World Champion has been backed is due to people placing speculative punts on Styles winning the Rumble due to the news that he suffered an ankle injury at TLC. Even so, it's baffling.

Seth Rollins 14/1 to 10/1

I can understand why Rollins' price has been slashed. On this week's Raw, he mentioned wanting to get to HHH and the only we he could do that is to beat Kevin Owens for the Championship. I expect the punters are banking on the chance of Rollins getting to Owens' Universal Championship by becoming number one contender with a Rumble win. In my opinion, the most likely scenario is Rollins goes through Jericho at Roadblock (as he promised) and then secures himself a title shot against Kevin Owens (if Owens is still the champ post-Roadblock). This nicely sets up the spot where HHH enters the picture to screw Rollins from winning the title and re-igniting their trouble in time for WrestleMania.

The Undertaker 40/1 to 25/1

Another move that makes sense. Sort of. There are rumours that The Undertaker could challenge AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble with many - myself  included- speculating that it'll set up the John Cena versus The Undertaker match that was in the plans for this year's Mania before Cena was injured.
I presume the fans who backed Undertaker to win the Rumble are doing so in case it's AJ Styles versus John Cena in the title match at the Royal Rumble. It's a bit of a backwards way to get to Undertaker versus Cena, but it's somewhat understandable.

Along with Goldberg moving out other selections whose prices have increased in yesterday's changes were:

Roman Reigns now 12/1 from 9/1
Brock Lesnar now 16/1 from 14/1
Bray Wyatt now 33/1 from 20/1
Cesaro now 33/1 from 20/1
Kurt Angle now 66/1 from 25/1

Ladbrokes' WWE odds were first published over the summer. They were taken down for a few months, but were republished this past Sunday.

When available, Ladbrokes' WWE betting odds are found under 'Wrestling' on the sportsbook menu at Ladbrokes.com. This link will take you to the Wrestling betting page.

  1. I think whoever is winning the RR will be a Raw superstar going for the Universal title

Balor or Jericho seems likely so far

    1. They're the only likely winners from Raw. I cannot see it being won by anyone else from that roster unless they go with a Goldberg chase for the title, and that's a bit of an out there idea!
