Taker/Reigns For Mania 33?

This week's issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that was published in the early hours of this morning, had an interesting story that might be of interest to WWE bettors.

Dave Meltzer wrote about some of the potential WrestleMania matches that are locked in and noted that - in regard to The Undertaker versus John Cena - it is still classed as a probable because 'Vince isn't locked in yet'.

The newsletter writer acknowledged that Undertaker's WrestleMania opponent will likely end up being Cena, but did mention another idea that is being floated about and that is for Taker's WrestleMania rival being Roman Reigns.

I have been a subscriber to the Observer Newsletter since the mid-1990s. At this time of the year, or shortly into a new year, Dave usually has a good indication about what the Mania matches are going to be, so this Undertaker versus Roman Reigns possibility isn't one to ignore just yet.

With that in mind, I have had a look over the Betfair Sportsbook's WrestleMania props to see what The Undertaker's odds are of leaving Orlando as WWE Universal Champion.

As the image above shows, Taker is out at 16/1 to be holding the Universal Championship by the end of the evening.

If this match were to take place, there is no guarantee that Undertaker will get the win over Reigns, so the 10/3 on his retention of the title could also be worthy of a bet as well.

It's win-win whoever goes over.

With all that said, this post could all be for nothing. Vince McMahon could end up locking in John Cena versus The Undertaker for April 2nd. Roman Reigns - or Kevin Owens - could go on to defend the Universal Champion against Braun Strowman (who Meltzer mentioned as a second favourite to win the Rumble) or, in the case of Owens, Chris Jericho.

The matches that are reportedly locked in for Mania 33 are: Seth Rollins versus Triple H, Brock Lesnar versus Bill Goldberg and Shaquille O'Neal going up against Big Show.

Betfair's WrestleMania 33 prop markets are found under 'Special Bets' over at Betfair.com.

  2. What point of The Undertaker to become champion? He can be "main event" without title on the line.

  3. 'Take this with a grain of salt as card is always “subject to change” but the Alerus Center in Grand Forks, ND posted a video today to their official Facebook page just a few hours ago.

The video advertises the February 4th WWE Live event in the arena and promotes AJ Styles vs Dean Ambrose for the WWE Championship. If this is a premonition of what to expect past the Royal Rumble that would mean that AJ Styles will retain against John Cena at the Royal Rumble next month'

    1. This doesn't mean anything.

There is no way Cena doesn't win on January 29th.

    2. Unless... Undertaker interferes and costs Cena the title?

      Be a bit daft though

    3. He has fallen short far too many times against AJ Styles and there's too much of a focus on him going for 16.
