Randy Orton Now An Off-Shore Favourite To Win 2017 Royal Rumble

The odds for Randy Orton to win the 2017 WWE Royal Rumble have shortened mildly since I last checked in with the betting board that's available over at 5Dimes.com.

At 11pm GMT yesterday evening, 'The Viper' was +280 to be the last man standing in Sunday's 30-man battle royal. His price has now shortened to +275.

The Undertaker, who was at the top of the board with odds of +190, has now drifted out to +400. This move now makes Orton the favourite. This is in line with domestic bookmakers that moved him into that role yesterday morning.

Randy Orton wasn't the only selection to have a lower price than last night.

Chris Jericho, who is tied in storyline to current WWE Universal Champion - Kevin Owens, has dropped into +1100 from +1200.

Prices correct as of 8am GMT.

  1. What am I missing? Why on earth would Randy be the favorite. What Booking clues would show they are going this way? He's been totally de-emphasized in the Wyatt family. He has 2 strikes in the wellness program.

    1. The scenario where Bray/Orton wins Rumble and then the other wins the title inside the Elimination Chamber fits how it could go. Whether it does is another thing.

    2. De-emphasized in the Wyatts? Huh? He's been the central focus of the family. They only won the tag straps once he came along, he has been the featured member, and he defeated Luke Harper, prompting Bray to ditch Luke. Not at all de-emphasized.

And the wellness policy stuff happened a long time ago. I don't think WWE sees Orton as a liability. They see him as a veteran who can carry a feud and who still gets relevant reactions from the crowd. In fact, most people are dying to see a Orton/Styles feud for the title. But since it looks as though Cena is taking the strap, a possible Wyatt victory at EC and then feud with Orton culminating at Mania is exciting and fresh.

Especially when you see that everyone else has a clear feud ready to go, depending on where they go with the Undertaker on Sunday night.

I personally don't think Orton is winning but it has nothing to do with being him being de-emphasized or the wellness policy or being boring or anything like that.
