WWE And Big Show Moving On From Shaq?

WWE.com has just published an interview with The Big Show and it now has me concerned that the rumoured WrestleMania 33 match between he and Shaquille O'Neal is up in the air.

The final question brought up Big Show calling out Shaq for playing karaoke and eating doughnuts and the interviewee answered:

"I mean, here's the thing. We shot this off at the ESPY Awards, Shaq said he's in, I thought this would be a good match for fans to see two giants go at it. And I see Shaq riding around, singing karaoke and stopping in at Krispy Kreme. I'm like 'Hey! If you're not gonna take it serious, find something else to do!' I've given 22 years of my blood, sweat and tears to this business and I'm doing this favour to Shaq. This could be my last WrestleMania. He needs to step up. I'm not trying to be mean, but my time's valuable. I get it. I don't have foot powder commercials, car commercials, insurance commercials. I get it. He's a busy man. But if he's gonna step in the ring, in my business, at our biggest event of the year? Show me you're serious. If anything, talk a little trash. Let me know you're motivated. Because right now? I just get the feeling he's terrified. He shot his mouth off, he's in over his head and he's trying to back out. So just let me know what's going on, brother."

As someone who has bet on Shaquille O'Neal to be in a match at WrestleMania 33, seeing this has me in two minds.

It could be another attempt by WWE and Big Show to drive up Internet interest in the two going at it before the feud/build reaches TV. Then - on the other hand - it could be the start of WWE, and especially Big Show, distancing away from Shaq after spending the best part of a year teasing that the two giants would square off in Orlando on April 2nd.

I hope it's the former.

  1. It makes me feel this is the start. Big Show is playing the Heel.

It would be so weird for big show to post so many pictures of him getting into shape and calling Shaq out for it not to happen

Shaq even posted a video last month on instagram with the comment being 'im coming for you big show'

    1. I don't see him heeling at all. Heels are supposed to lie. Show is being truthful about Shaq seemingly being unmotivated.

Show hasn't called him out on Twitter for a week.

    2. It would be really really poor if this match doesnt happen. WWE have been pushing so hard for it. Shaq has been in some really cheesy commercials recently i can only imagine the payday and media attention he would get at Wrestlemania and refusing it would be strange

    3. I've noticed big companies like Sky (sports) have made articles about about this already. I'm siding more towards getting people buzzed about it at the moment. I can see Shaq posting a status or video in reply to it saying he is ready and coming etc

      Atleast i hope so...

    4. Also David. In the headline wwe are calling it '... Calls out shaq'. I think they are trying to push it more towards that then cancelling the match

    5. The headline had to state that because it's an important part of the interview if they're trying to save face because of Shaq withdrawing.
The byline refers to the match being in question.

    6. Hmm true.

I just found another post on Shaq's facebook page on january 13th saying

'Back on my workout and getting ready for WWE! Who's coming to watch me in the ring? '

Be strange for him to be working out too just to cancel it this short notice
