Bookie .vs. Blogger: Comparing Our Rumble Top 5s (Week 4)

Before I begin with this edition of Bookie .vs. Blogger, I'd like to wish you all a Merry Christmas.

It has been six weeks since the first instalment of the 'Bookie .vs. Blogger' series where a bookmaker and myself compare our top five selections to win the 2018 WWE Royal Rumble.

We met back up a few days ago to go over our picks yet again.

My top five remains the same as it has been for the past few weeks with John Cena still firmly atop the mountain. Next up is Roman Reigns because - as I've mentioned numerous times in these posts - there is Cena, Reigns and then a chasm between them and third place.

The bookie's top five has changed.

Bookie .vs. Blogger Week 4 - Royal Rumble 2018 Top 5s

He has removed Randy Orton from fifth slot and inserted Sami Zayn. The decision to move Sami Zayn into this position was brought on by a scenario he played out where Zayn and Kevin Owens are the final two wrestlers in the battle royal and eliminate each other at the same time to set up a three-way, along with AJ Styles, at WrestleMania.

Another change has seen Roman Reigns leapfrog John Cena. This is due to Cena's return to TV taking place on the Raw brand.

Our conversation took place a few hours after watching last week's WWE TV. We were both on the same page where it came to who we believed would win the recently announced female Royal Rumble. We agreed that, if they want to go with the big story, then Ronda Rousey should be the person who beats the field on January 28th. We both also had Asuka as our next choice.

While I'm at it, I may as well conclude by stating how the bookie believes the title match will be set - should Rousey be booked to win the Rumble.

He reckons one way to get to WrestleMania is to have Rousey win the female Rumble and then - at the following PPV - have Asuka win the WWE Raw Women's Championship in the first-ever female Elimination Chamber match.

I thought it is a superb idea and would play well in the build up to the match (if it's taking place) with the first-ever female Rumble winner going up against the first-ever female Elimination Chamber victor.

We'll return with another edition of Bookie .vs. Blogger in early 2018.

    1. LOL, you are totally underestimating the odds of Super Cena

He has more chances. Original plan was for him to beat Mahal at Wrestlemania. I think he is still getting it but only difference is WWE champion is changed

  2. Hey David, have you seen the advertisement for Fastlane main event

I know card is subjected to change but this kinda confirms who is not winning Rumble

    1. I hadn't before you wrote what you did.

For those reading this who might not have read/heard - the rumoured main event is Styles defending the strap against Orton, Nakamura, Owens and Zayn in a fatal 5-way.

As you said Abraham, card subject to change, but interesting to see these names banded together like this.

    2. I wouldn't be surprised if Styles vs Nakamura happens at Royal Rumble.
