Notes About Rock/Omega Rumble Oddschecker Article

It's only Tuesday and I've already had my attention drawn to a Royal Rumble article which has made me look for the nearest brick wall to bang my head against.

I kind of knew there would be speculation about Kenny Omega and The Rock winning this Sunday's Royal Rumble. However, I didn't expect it to come from an Oddschecker article.

My friend showed me one today. The article is titled 'The Rock in line for a 2019 Royal Rumble Victory?' and starts off writing about how Dwayne Johnson's odds to win the battle royal have been fluctuating. (Side note - I bet on The Rock over the summer and I might have been partly responsible for sending him from 50/1 to near the top of the list).

It goes on to state that The Rock's odds have 'gone from 33/1 to 20/1 in some places' and that he is 'the person not currently on the roster with the shortest price'.

Then, by the end, the writer contradicts this by pointing out that Kenny Omega is 16/1, but that a 'best price of 40/1 is available'.

Here's the thing. It's quite obvious that Kenny Omega - who isn't on the WWE roster - would not be allowed to wrestle on Sunday even if he were on his way to WWE (I think he's going to AEW, but that's going off in a different direction for now).

I know I've written the next few lines before, but - Omega's contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling ends on January 31st. The Royal Rumble is January 27th. It is impossible for him to work that show.

Back to The Rock.

This is a tweet Dwayne Johnson sent out in November after Kevin Hart won the Best Comedy Act of 2018 at the People's Choice Awards. In it, Rock notes that he and Hart will begin filming the Jumanji sequel this month.

The Rock Tweets

It's a well-known fact that Johnson was injured while wrestling John Cena in the main event of WrestleMania XXIX. This injury forced production of Hercules to be halted until he was fit enough.

I cannot see Johnson being allowed to work the Rumble with the Jumanji sequel being shot and with the schedule he has.

The Oddschecker article did mention that Seth Rollins is the betting favourite and that he's the best-backed selection for January.

I'll write more tomorrow, but - as of right now - Seth Rollins is still my favourite to win. I need a lot of convincing otherwise. Especially after last night's promo on WWE Raw.

And if you do want to try and sway my opinion, please don't offer Kenny Omega and Dwayne Johnson as your counters!
