G1 Climax 31: Night 2 Betting Results

I had a plan before going to sleep last night: If I woke up in time for night two of the G1 Climax, I would watch it live. If not, I'd watch on demand.

Well - I woke up earlier than usual, but not early enough. The show was fifty minutes in by the time I was awake. The betting markets had all been suspended, so I had to wait until New Japan World put up the event after its conclusion.

I've now watched the show and will share with you the betting results for each of the B Block's opening round of matches.

The prices in this coverage start with the early odds from Saturday September 11th and end with the those that were available on my visit at 11:30PM BST last night.

NJPW G1 Climax 31: Night 2

YOSHI-HASHI .vs. EVIL
Unlike yesterday - which had a 5/1 underdog victory to start off the show - night two started off with a win for the betting favourite.

EVIL started out at 1/4 when the market opened last weekend.  However, yesterday evening - likely due to Yujiro Takahashi's surprise opening match victory over Kota Ibushi in the first match of A Block - the price for the underdog in B Block's first match was reduced slightly when YOSHI-HASHI moved into 9/4 from 5/2.

The eventual winner was moved up to 2/7 and was still at those odds when I last visited the market at 11:30PM BST.

Jeff Cobb .vs. Chase Owens

G1 Climax 31: Night 2 Betting

There were no apparent changes made to the market for Jeff Cobb versus Chase Owens.

It had Cobb a 2/13 favourite from the morning of Saturday September 11th right up to last night. Kambi had Owens at 7/2.

This was another bout which resulted in a win for the fave.

SANADA .vs. Tama Tonga
The run of night two betting favourites continued in match three when SANADA beat Tama Tonga.

As you can see above, the eventual winner was 1/5 from last week right up to at least yesterday night.

Hirooki Goto .vs. Taichi
Yet another favourite won in the penultimate match on today's card when Taichi got the two points against Hirooki Goto.

G1 Climax 31: Night 2 Betting

Taichi started out at 11/25 last week, but was moved down into 1/3 on Thursday.

The eventual loser was 8/5 initially, but rose to 2/1 following Taichi's decrease.

Hiroshi Tanahashi .vs. Kazuchika Okada
The main event saw Kazuchika Okada win over Hiroshi Tanhashi to end the night with a clean sweep by the betting favourites.

Okada started off at 13/25 fave, when the market was first installed. A couple of days later, Okada's price rose up slightly when Tanahashi was backed from 13/10 into 23/20. However, yesterday morning, Okada's odds were lowered into 11/20.

The eventual loser was placed at 5/4 following Okada's drop.

G1 Climax 31: Night 2 Betting

And that's all for now. I aim to return to live G1 Climax blogging if markets are published for nights three and four. Thankfully, there are no more 6:00AM BST starts for the rest of the tournament.
