How The Money In The Bank 2015 Prop Bets Fared

We're now a few days removed from the 2015 edition of WWE Money in the Bank, so it's time to look over the prop bets that were available this past weekend and see what would have been winning wagers.

The majority of sportsbooks offering odds on this past Sunday's WWE event were taking side bets on the Money in the Bank contract being cashed in on the night. Therefore, I'll start with that one.

Money in the Bank contract to be cashed in on the night

As we all know, this one would not have been a winner as the MITB winner - Sheamus - did not show up at the end of the show to cash in his guaranteed title shot. Most of the bookmakers with lines out for this occurring weren't taking action on 'No'. Paddy Power, Sportsbet Australia and 5Dimes were the exceptions.

Paddy Power and its Australian-facing partner Sportsbet had the 'No' chalked up at 1/25 early on in the betting period.

By 7pm BST on Sunday night, the bets appeared to have gone the way of 'Yes' as its opposing selection was priced at 1/7.

Off-shore sportsbook, 5Dimes, added the side bet early on Sunday evening. The 'Not Cashed' didn't see much action as the odds improved for the bettor going from -600 at 9pm to -475 at my last recording at around midnight.

Those that took 'Cashed In', who may have been banking on a Roman Reigns heel turn, would have made losing wagers. The 5Dimes 'Cashed In' price dropped from +400 to +325 in the same period.

Roman Reigns to win the WWE Title From Dean Ambrose

This was an exclusive to Paddy Power /Sportsbet and gave customers the opportunity to punt on a heel turn by Reigns.

It would have needed (a) Roman Reigns winning the briefcase, (b) Dean Ambrose winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, (c) Roman Reigns cashing in the title shot against his friend, so turning himself heel in the process and (d) winning the strap.

The bookmaker set the price at 20/1. Within minutes of going up on Tuesday afternoon, the odds had plummeted to 9/1. They continued to fall and were resting at 13/2 for most of the weekend.

Anybody who took the bet would have had a losing betting slip, though. In my opinion, it was worth a punt at those odds.

The remaining side bets were exclusive to Betfair.

Cinder blocks to be used in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship ladder match

The Betfair Sportsbook was accepting wagers on cinder blocks being used at any point during the ladder match for the title.

The price was 3/1 on Thursday morning. These odds were readjusted to 10/3 a day or so later and remained that way until the market closed.

It would have been a losing selection as the weapon wasn't used in the match.

A referee to be knocked out at any time

If you thought a ref would end up being knocked out during the PPV, Betfair would have paid out at odds of 2/1.

It didn't happen on Sunday. I am sure it will pay off eventually!

All 4 titles to be retained

A similar side bet was applied to the Elimination Chamber PPV over a fortnight ago. Back then, the option paid off as there were only 3 titles that could have been retained and all the titleholders kept on to their straps.

The odds on all four belts remaining with their respective champions was 5/2 on Thursday morning but - by Friday afternoon - had shortened to 13/8.

Money in the Bank 2015 saw The New Day lose the WWE Tag Team Championship to The Prime Time Players, so the punters would have lost out.

Brock Lesnar to make an appearance on the night

With the talk of Brock Lesnar rumoured to be making his way back to WWE TV on the July 15th episode of Raw, people started thinking that he would play a part in the proceedings on Sunday night.

Betfair even placed 'The Beast' in the Money in the Bank ladder match market and saw his odds backed from 50/1 to 13/1.

The conservative bettor might have discounted Brock being involved in the ladder match, but might have been keen on him appearing at any point during the broadcast. The company was offering 7/4 on this.

As we now know, Brock did not appear at any point during the PPV but did show up - as expected - on the following evening's edition of Raw.

I was one of the bettors who lost out on this market. I didn't lose the final two specials from Betfair.

How many RKOs in the MITB ladder match?

The traders set up an over/under on how many RKOs will be executed during the Money in the Bank contract match. The line was set at 3.5 with the Over being priced up at 20/21 and the Under 8/11.

I took the under and won by half an RKO as Orton pulled off his signature move three times. I let out a huge sign of relief in the latter part of the match when Roman Reigns countered an RKO attempt which would have been a cash out for the 'Over' bettor.

How many times will a Superstar fall from a ladder?

Another over/under bet. This time the line was set at 18.5 with the 'Over' and 'Under' selections both installed at 5/6.

The action evidently went the way of the 'Over' as, within a day, the odds went to 4/5 for 'Over' and 20/23 to the 'Under'. On Sunday evening, the 'Over' was 8/11 and 'Under' was EVENS.

I counted around twenty-or-so falls from the ladder with a good portion of them (7?) taking place in the first few minutes of the bout.

Hopefully, the sportsbooks will publish more prop bets to coincide with the match markets for the next month's show.
