How The 'Spoilers' Did

One of the topics discussed after the majority of World Wrestling Entertainment pay-per-views in 2013 has centred on the Reddit / Twitter user - Dolphins1925 - who claims to be getting match spoilers directly from someone within WWE.

A lot of people are believing the Dolphins story but there are others who feel he - or the source, if one exists - is simply looking at how the betting odds change within the final two hours before the PPV starts.

Those leaning on the side of disbelief - and I am one of them at the time of writing - can point to one of Dolphins' tweets from last night to discredit the alleged informant.

The Reddit user claimed that his source had informed him that Damien Sandow was going to cash in his Money in the Bank title shot against John Cena once the challenger had defeated Alberto Del Rio for the world heavyweight championship.

Cena won the title, Sandow didn't cash in and challenge for it.

The company had teased Sandow possibly coming out to take on the winner of the match during the preshow and at certain points during the pay-per-view. Years of following professional wrestling telegraphed to yours truly that this was not going to happen.

Not yet, anyway.

I am reminded of an argument WWF lawyer - Jerry McDevitt - made when Eric Bischoff was in charge of World Championship Wrestling.

In 1998, Bischoff was hyping up a match with Vince McMahon at a pay-per-view knowing fully well that the WWF owner was not going to be there. WCW's argument was that they had indicated to fans that McMahon wouldn't take part in the match against Eric Bischoff. McDevitt countered with something along the lines of  'in professional wrestling storylines, if you say something isn't going to happen it means it will'.

WWE teasing that Sandow may cash in his immediate title shot is the reverse of that. Still, it's traditional wrestling psychology. When the cash in takes place, it will be when we aren't supposed to be suspecting it.

Now that I've said that, it will probably happen on Raw tonight!

If we're to overlook the incorrect spoiler in a Sandow cash-in, Dolphins had a perfect night with his reveals.

However, the betting odds going in to last night's event  indicated who was going to long before Dolphins took to Reddit and Twitter.
