We're a few days removed from the WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view so, as the event is still fresh in our memory, I thought I would look at how the prop bets paid off in a two-part series.
In this post, I'll concentrate on the special bets that were available for the main event.
Websites like 5Dimes.eu and PaddyPower.com were offering customers the chance to wager on the wrestlers to be eliminated first and last.
5Dimes offered its clients the choice to pick 'Christian to be eliminated first' or 'Any other'. Christian was favoured to be the first to go from the moment the sportsbook posted the odds on Thursday evening. He was available at a price of -350 (1.29 EU, 2/7 UK) but, by the time the match started, he was available at -280 (1.36 EU, 5/14 UK) meaning the 'Any other' option - even though it stayed an underdog from a betting perspective - was where the money was going. 'Any other' went from +250 to +200 (3.00 EU, 2/1 UK).
Paddy Power was more specific in its elimination prop. The firm offered odds on each wrestler individually. Christian opened up at 1/5 UK (-500 US, 1/20 EU) but was 4/11 (-275 US, 1/36 EU) late on Sunday meaning punters were placing bets on other options.
And, as we now know, another option did end up being the first person eliminated from the chamber.
Sheamus' eviction would have paid out to 5Dimes customers who had wagered on 'Any other' and also to Paddy Power clients who punted on him at the 13/2 (+650 US, 7.50 EU) odds he was available at for the entire betting period.
John Cena being eliminated by Randy Orton was an exclusive prop to 5Dimes. The bettors who staked on this scenario playing out would have profited as Orton scored a pinfall over Cena following interference from Bray Wyatt.
Betting on Orton pinning Cena opened at -160. By the time the bell sounded, the price had shortened to -450 (1.22 EU, 2/9) meaning punters had been wagering on the scenario playing out. 'Any other result' went from +120 to +315 (4.15 EU, 63/20 UK) in the same window.
Both websites listed Daniel Bryan as favourite to be the final person evicted from the bout. Bettors would have cashed in here, as well.
At 5Dimes, Bryan's odds went from -210 to -705 (1.14 EU, 20/141) whilst at Paddy Power they went from 4/9 to 2/9 (-450 US, 1.22 EU).
Punters were on the money here as the odds shortening proves the action was on the right side.
I'll return in a few days with a look at the betting that took place on the six-man tag team match between The Wyatt Brothers and The Shield.
Odds taken from both 5Dimes.eu and PaddyPower.com
