The original idea for Night of Champions was for Charlotte to challenge Nikki Bella for the strap. This bout has, as of the time of writing, been brought forward to the 14th September edition of Raw because it will play into the storyline that WWE has built with Bella attempting to break AJ Lee's streak as being the longest-reigning Divas Champion.
Usually, in stories like this, the heel should come up short with a day or so to go. I'm not saying that it will happen in this scenario, but it's worth considering.
If Charlotte does end up Divas Champion, and if a rematch is booked for Night of Champions, the dynamic will obviously change. By the book, Charlotte should be the favourite to win the rematch if she does leave next week's Raw as champ.
Bearing this in mind, I browsed through the Night of Champions betting odds at 5Dimes, Betfair and Paddy Power this morning to see whether any WWE bettors had backed Charlotte to win at Night of Champions.
The only change has occurred with the market at 5Dimes. The money has come in on Charlotte as she has moved in from being a +120 outsider to a -140 favourite.
The Betfair price of 11/10 is the better value if you're looking to bet on her in the UK and other countries where you can legally bet with Betfair.
This is all based on the idea that a Nikki Bella versus Charlotte match will still take place at Night of Champions.
A sportsbook can be in a position to cancel all wagers now that the bout has moved dates. Some might void the market while others might let it ride (meaning if the company/companies will continue taking action on a Nikki Bella versus Charlotte match taking place at Night of Champions. No bookie will pay out on the Raw match).
It'll be something I'll be watching closely and asking about over the coming week.
