The BBC Sport website runs a weekly feature during the football season (soccer) where Mark Lawrenson and a celebrity go head-to-head in predicting the scorelines of English Premier League games.
The celeb is different each week. The person picking this weekend's slate of fixtures is none other than Dave Bautista.
I recall Hulk Hogan played the game against Lawro a few years ago. A couple of days after reading the Hogan article, I thought to myself that it would have been cool to have done an experiment for fun on here by backing every one of his selections just to see how things would have played out.
I missed the boat on following Hogan's picks, but had enough time to do something this time.
What I have done is placed 50p singles on all ten of the scores that Batista has selected. I plan on publishing a follow-up post next week where I'll compare the results.
I could have simply noted the scores and checked on Monday, but thought having a bet on the results would make this idea I came up with more interesting.
The scores that Batista has predicted are:
Man Utd 5 Man City 0
Arsenal 2 Southampton 1
Bournemouth 1 West Brom 1
Burnley 2 Hull 3
Middlesbrough 0 Crystal Palace 1
Stoke 1 Tottenham 3
West Ham 4 Watford 1
Liverpool 2 Leicester 1
Swansea 0 Chelsea 3
Sunderland 3 Everton 1
As you can see, there's a reason why I decided to go with the smallish stakes!
Here's a screen grab of the ten 50p singles along with their odds.
I placed my wagers with Bet365.com. I usually look for value, but - as I was only doing this for fun - I thought I'd stick to the one bookmaker.
Great Article! Will you be doing a post on CM Punk vs Mickey Gall? Even though Punk is a massive underdog seeing him at 4/1 has got me tempted.
