Goldberg's 2017 Rumble Winner Odds Shorten & More

Bill Goldberg's odds to win the 2017 WWE Royal Rumble have been cut since news that he's very close to returning to WWE was reported earlier this week.

Websites like Unibet.com and more have been accepting wagers on the outright victor of next January's battle royal since February. When the market was first installed, Goldberg was available at 75/1. He had remained at that price right up to recently. He's now available at 30/1.

As well as offering outright odds, the firms are also accepting wagers on wrestlers finishing within the final four. It goes without saying that Goldberg's price has been cut here as well. It has been lowered from 17s into 15/2.

In a post published two days ago, I noted that I didn't see any value in placing a wager on Goldberg doing well in the Royal Rumble as I doubt he'll even be in it. It is being strongly rumoured that the former WCW and WWE World Heavyweight Champion will return to face Brock Lesnar at the Survivor Series in late November. I think that's as far as his in-ring return will take him. However, if there are more matches scheduled, I highly doubt he'll be given a Royal Rumble victory at the expense of the younger talent on the roster.

It was announced last week that the Royal Rumble will return to the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The building hosted the 1997 edition of the pay-per-view. It was headlined by Shawn Michaels reclaiming the WWF Championship from Sycho Sid in front of his hometown fans.

I'm somewhat surprised that, since the venue was announced, that the price for Shawn Michaels being victorious in the Rumble hasn't dipped. I thought there would have been some speculative punters out there who would have taken the 100/1 to win or 25/1 to place.

It's unlikely that he'll wrestle on the card, let alone be in the match so was curious to see if there were any takers. Evidently not.

Other than that, there are two other minor changes that have been made to the board.

Alberto Del Rio (Departure) and Erick Rowan (Injury) have both been removed. The last time I observed the list, they were available at:

Alberto Del Rio 33/1 to win (10/1 to place)
Erick Rowan 40/1 to win (14/1 to place)

The markets can be found under 'WWE' on the sportsbook menu at Unibet.com,
