Comment Bag : 4 January 2017

Another comment and question from Jordan Kaye came in late last night:

David, would you say Betfair.com's 'Who Will Be WWE Champion at the End Of WrestleMania 33?' is good for The Undertaker at 7/2? Surely, if he wins the Royal Rumble and goes on to face John Cena at WrestleMania, they will give Taker the win.
It then gives Cena a chance to beat The Undertaker down the line and get his seventeenth title win!

My response:

If it is The Undertaker versus John Cena at WrestleMania, I wouldn't consider it a sure thing that Undertaker wins the match. This is especially the case with the suggestion that this could be his swansong year.

It's worth noting that this isn't the first time there has been speculation on The Undertaker's career closing out, though. Also - there's still the slim chance that it's Undertaker versus Roman Reigns at Mania.

As for the World Championship market, I'm not compelled to take the 7/2 myself. However, I'm sure others may want to snap it up.

Here are all the current odds and some pointers on where the customers have been betting so far.

Interestingly, it has been Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt who the customers seem to have sided with since last week's episode of Smackdown where there was apparent dissension within The Wyatt Family following their title loss on the show.

The market can be found along with other WWE WrestleMania props on the Special Bets page over at Betfair.com.

  1. It seemed quite contradictory with RAW and SD this week. Owens said the winner of the Rumble faces him at Mania for the Universal Title, whereas Corbin said that he will win the Rumble and face the Champion (currently AJ Styles)....not sure who the Rumble winner would face??? Would make more sense to have them going for the WWE Championship as it's a more lucrative title. Did I miss something this week?? What do you think?

    1. With the brand split, they have to keep both of the titles balanced so you're going to see the Raw talent aim for the Universal and the Smackdown stars target whoever is the champion of their brand.

    2. Oh, so they would face the respective Champion of their brand? I see.
I keep looking at Nakamura at 23/1 on this....very dark horse

    3. That's how it should be done. Especially in the first year after the draft when they've introduced a new title that they want to be regarded as equal to the WWE Championship.

I'd like it to be Nakamura as it would mean he's finally on the main roster, but think he'll be in NXT a while longer.

  2. Who's your top 5 as it stands currently David? (To win the Rumble)

    1. Hasn't changed (well, I've only got 4 now).

      1) Undertaker
      2) Braun Strowman
      3) Chris Jericho
      4) Finn Balor

    2. I meant it hasn't changed since yesterday.

    3. Would you say Corbins chances haven't increased after he threatened Cena? I suppose it's a way to make the fans keep guessing who's going to win

I agree the undertaker should be winning it now. I'd be surprised if Braun wins it as i think he will end up winning the Andre the Giant memorial match

    4. No, I wouldn't say Baron Corbin's chances have increased.

Last night's segment was done to set up Corbin versus John Cena for next week's Smackdown.

As for Braun Strowman winning the Andre the Giant battle royal - I think that's a bad bet to place considering how he has been booked lately.
