Going Back Over Coral's Rumble Odds (Jan 8)

It had been a few days since I last checked in with the Royal Rumble betting odds that are available from Coral.co.uk. so I had another look through the market to note any changes.

If you recall, on January 4th, I noted that the firm had slashed the odds for Randy Orton, The Miz and Baron Corbin winning the battle royal.

The last two names of the three make sense, even though they're highly unlikely Rumble winners. The Miz had lost the Intercontinental Championship to Dean Ambrose and Baron Corbin inserted himself into the main event picture on Smackdown by interrupting the contract signing between AJ Styles and John Cena.

The customers appear to have stuck with Corbin as his number has moved in from 20/1 into 16s.

Despite not seeming to make much sense for the time being, other than knowing that Vince McMahon is rearranging his plans for WrestleMania, Orton's price has continued to drop. The traders have now moved him down from 5/1 into 4/1.

When the market opened a week ago today, Randy Orton was 12/1.

Corbin and Orton aren't the only names whose prices have shortened since midweek. Brock Lesnar has been cut from 20/1 into 16/1.

It's almost certain that Lesnar will tie-up with Bill Goldberg at WrestleMania. Therefore, the only way I can see how Lesnar winning the Rumble could work is if Bill Goldberg wins the Universal Championship at FastLane to set up the match for Mania.

I cannot see that idea playing out, though.

There have been a number of price increases made. The most notable being:

Seth Rollins from 14/1 to 16/1
Bill Goldberg from 9/1 to 10/1
Finn Balor from 7/1 to 8/1
Braun Strowman from 5/1 to 6/1
The Undertaker from 2/1 to 5/2

If you think The Undertaker is worth a shot, then the 5/2 is the best available price across all websites with Royal Rumble pricing. It was a similar case last year as the company was offering Triple H at competitive odds.

The market can be found under TV Specials on the sports betting menu at Coral.co.uk.

  1. Interesting thing. At market "Who Will Be World Champion By The End Of The Show" Orton and Wyatt now both favorites. Maybe we will see Orton - Wyatt for title at Mania?

  2. Probably looking way too much into it, but WWE recently released a video with 'top 10 double team moves' or something along those lines, and it put Reigns and Goldberg's spears as 2nd, and Undertaker and Kanes double chokeslam as 1st.

Maybe when Undertaker returns it's going to be a Brothers of Destruction return more then anything else?
