Looking Through The Universal Championship Markets For SummerSlam 2017

With Raw taking place tonight, it's expected that Kambi's SummerSlam specials - that focus on the Universal Championship match - will either be temporarily taken down or removed for good if we find out what the main event for August 20th is during tonight's show.

I've browsed through the three markets to see what the sportsbooks' customers have been betting on since I last looked through the odds on Saturday.

Last week's episode of Raw closed with Braun Strowman interfering in the Roman Reigns versus Samoa Joe main event that was meant to determine a challenger to Brock Lesnar's Universal Championship. With the show going off the air with no winner, and Strowman now in the mix, it more or less teased that there will be a four-way match in the main event of August's pay-per-view.

With the tease out there, I figured that the customers would have pushed 'Braun Strowman .vs. Brock Lesnar .vs. Roman Reigns .vs. Samoa Joe' into favouritism in a market titled 'Exact Composition Of Match' for the Universal Championship.

The punters have backed this option from 6/4 to 5/4 since Saturday. However, there still appears to be people out there punting on Samoa Joe not being in the mix as the odds for 'Strowman .vs. Lesnar .vs. Reigns' selection has moved in from 2/5 to 1/4.

Exact Composition Of Participants In The SummerSlam 2017 Main Event

Interestingly, with the odds for a triple threat moving in in the 'Exact Composition' market, it has drifted out in a market where clients can have a bet on the number of participants that start the match.

Exact Number Of Participants In The SummerSlam 2017 Main Event

'Exactly 3' has moved up from 1/2 to 7/10 in this market. I personally think it's going to be a four-way, but if anyone out there believes it'll be a triple threat - and the betting would indicate that there are  people under this belief - then the 'Exactly 3' in this market is a better option than going for 'Stowman .vs. Lesnar .vs. Reigns' at 1/4.

The market where customers can bet on who they believe will leave the event as champion is also showing no love for Samoa Joe since the start of the weekend.

Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman have all moved in from where they were on Saturday.

Joe had been on the descent before the weekend, but hasn't been cut since.

If we find out what the SummerSlam main event is during tonight's show, these markets will be shut down for good. If the match is still up in the air after tonight, then I'll have another look through these markets if they're republished later in the week.

Odds correct at 6:30pm BST and from sports betting firms that run odds from Kambi. A couple of examples can be found below:
