Kambi's Observer O/U Lines For SummerSlam 2017

In a post published yesterday, I noted that the Kambi oddsmakers had put up over/under prop markets where punters can bet on how the Wrestling Observer Newsletter's editor - Dave Meltzer - rates the matches in his review of tomorrow night's SummerSlam PPV.

I have returned to these markets to see what the odds are and to see if there are any selections that I'd like to back.

Tozawa .vs. Neville
The oddsmakers have set the line at three-and-three quarter stars. 'Under 3.75' is favourite at 4/5 and the over is 9/10. I think the oddsmaker has the right favourite here. Even though I don't plan on betting, I can see this match going short. This could impact what the pair can do in it.

Smackdown Tag Team Championship
Here's one for those of you who are new to this - The New Day .vs. The Usos was the highest rated match at Battleground. It received 3.50 stars. The O/U line was 3 back then.

This time, the trader has set the line at 3.75 - a quarter of a star more than the last PPV meeting between the teams.

The 'Under' opened at 4/5 and has been backed into 13/20. As a result, the Over has been moved up to 11/10 from 9/10.
If I were to guess a few reasons why 'Under' was backed, I'd hazard that it has to do with the bout being on the Kick Off. Kofi Kingston not being part of the team (the current plan is Big E and Xavier Woods) could have also affected why they've sided with the lower number.

Miz/Miztourage .vs. Jordan/Hardys
This market has opened with a line of 2.50 Stars. The over is EVS and the option to go lower is 7/10. It's another Kick Off match, so it will depend on how long they're given.

Big Cass .vs. Big Show
I think the person who set this line has it spot on. He's placed it at 2 Stars with the '2 Stars or Over' at even money and the 'Under' at 7/10. I think this has potential to be a stinker, so - if I were to have a speculative punt on this - I'd gamble on the under 2 stars.

Finn Balor .vs. Bray Wyatt
Speaking of stinkers, Bray Wyatt has had a few poor outings on PPV this year. These were when he was up against Randy Orton, but he also was slightly above average in his match against Seth Rollins at Great Balls of Fire (they had 2.75 Stars). The line for this match is 3.50. It could be too high, in my opinion.

The bettors have backed the 'Under', so they're evidently of the same opinion as me.

I won't be betting on this selection. And here's why.

Finn Balor has a decent average especially when donning the Demon King gimmick. For example - at last year's SummerSlam he got four stars, he had a few 3.50s against Samoa Joe in NXT and a few 4s or over against Kevin Owens.

John Cena .vs. Baron Corbin
The line for the John Cena .vs. Baron Corbin match has been set at 3-and-a-quarter stars.

The gamblers have backed the Under as it has been snipped from 17/20 into 13/20 while the oddsmakers have pushed the over out to 11/10.

Randy Orton .vs. Rusev
This market has seen people side with the '3 Stars or Over'. It opened at 9/10 but has been backed into 4/5.

This is another market where I think the oddsmakers have the line spot on. I could see this going either way.

Raw Tag Team Championship
The line for Cesaro and Sheamus versus Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins has been set at 3/75 Stars. The '3.75 or Over' is EVS and the 'Under 3.75' is a 7/10 favourite.
My instinct is telling me to go with the over. This match has a good cast of characters that work well together.

Raw Women's Championship
This is another market that is still showing the same pricing as yesterday afternoon. The line has been set at two-and-three-quarter stars. The over is 9/10 and the 'Under' is 4/5. I have nothing to offer. Why? Because the last time these two met on PPV - at Great Balls of Fire - their match was rated.. two-and-three-quarter stars.

Smackdown Women's Championship
There have been people betting on this market.

The line for Naomi's Smackdown Women's Championship defence against Natalya has been set at two-and-three-quarter stars. The punters have backed the 'Under' from 17/20 into 4/5 while the 'Over' has increased to 9/10 from 17/20.

US Championship
The line for AJ Styles' match against Kevin Owens has been set at 4 Stars. The under is a 4/5 favourite, and I can understand why. The last time the pair met - at Battleground - their match received three-and-a-quarter stars.
For some reason, the pair have never got to four stars when working together in a singles match on PPV. It's a pass, but I can't help thinking this could get four stars or more.

WWE Championship
The WWE Championship match has been set at 3.25 stars. This is another one where I am conflicted. I initially guessed that the line would be set at three stars, so I am close. It really could go either way, so I'm not going to bet on this one. For those of you who would like a punt, they have the '3.25 or Over' at 9/10 and the under is a 4/5 favourite.

WWE Universal Championship
The final market on the slate is the one for the Fatal 4-Way. It has been set very high with a line of four-and-a-half stars. The over is available at EVENS while the option to go lower is at 7/10. It's another close one.

So, after all that, all I could come up with are three selections. Two I feel strongly about while the third is based on intuition. I'll list them below and then, as soon as I hit publish, I'll place my bets.

Strong Opinion
- Big Cass .vs. Big Show Under 2 Stars
- Raw Tag Team Championship over 3.75 Stars

Mild Lean
- US Championship Over 4 Stars

The markets are found on the websites that publish betting odds from the Kambi Group (here's a list) a few examples can be found below:

  1. I have a feeling US title match might be above 4 stars

They slowed down at battleground and finish Didn't help them

Since it's a big PPV and final match of this feud, I expect them to have the best match of this feud.

  2. Is anyone else getting pre-approved bets from the kambi sites? Every bet can only place £6 and they have to approve if you bet more.. I was hoping to bet £50-£80 on 2 bets but I feel like they'll disallow it..

  3. Omg they just disapproved a £15 and £20 bet I placed. What's the point in betting £6? You win hardly anything!

    1. What are you trying to bet on? The pre-approved stakes differ across markets.

  4. And they just lowered the odds on the very ones I placed but none of the others on the site. I feel like they're onto me o.O

    1. I've been using the kambi sites for the past 2 years. I've only come across this since last month.. has this been happening to others within the past month or has it been longer?

    2. This has been happening for years. They set a pre-approved price and have options. It isn't something new.

  7. I understand that it's not something new - It happened at last year's Summerslam with this pre-approved stakes, but since then I was freely able to bet anything up until this past month. I just wanted to know if this has been the same for others or have they always had pre-approved stakes? The last PPV the pre-approved stake for me was 11p, like wtf?

    1. Yes, it has been the same for others. That's why people shop around to different Kambi sites.
