Note About A Story In This Week's Wrestling Observer

I have had a few people ask me about a story that came out in this week's issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter and thought I'd publish a short post about it.

For those of you who might not have read this issue, or any of the websites out there that have copied it, a sportsbook took a big hit on SummerSlam weekend and lost the equivalent of approximately $45,000 from one ten-match accumulator.

The best I can offer for now is that I was made aware of this story before it was reported and made its way to the public domain.

The paragraph also notes something that Dave Meltzer had indicated in the issue following SummerSlam in that certain sports betting companies are considering dropping WWE betting. It's obvious that these sorts of discussions will be made by management because - as the newsletter's editor wrote - the firms see this genre of sports betting as something of a novelty and not something they'd want to suffer significant losses on. They're also more regulated over here than overseas, so the risk of fraud will also have an impact on any decisions made about WWE betting.
