Hell In A Cell 2017 Odds Update For September 18th

In the most recent post, I noted that Roman Reigns' odds to defeat John Cena at WWE No Mercy have continued to decline.

The same could be said of Jinder Mahal's price to get a decision over Shinsuke Nakamura at WWE Hell in a Cell 2017 on October 8th.

A market for the WWE Championship meeting was published on the same day that No Mercy prices were installed. At the time, the oddsmakers had the current WWE Champion - Mahal - a 7/4 underdog.

As you can see in the table below, the titleholder's odds have been lowering across the days that I've visited the market.

In my opinion, the favouring of Mahal coincided with the news that WWE is visiting India in early December. Despite being a tour for the Raw brand, I think there is a strong chance that Jinder Mahal and the Singh Brothers will be part of that lineup.

To put it bluntly, it would be absurd if they aren't featured on that tour when considering the fact that the company has given Jinder Mahal a reign as WWE Champion for the Indian market.

One thing that I have noted in most of the recent posts about this match is that it doesn't appear to be a Hell in a Cell bout.

With Nakamura already losing to Mahal at SummerSlam (he also lost in Osaka over the weekend, but this doesn't really count), they could find a way for Nakamura to win the match, but not the title.

Of course, this only matters if the plan is for Mahal's reign to extend beyond October 8th.

  1. WWE just announced starrcade will be coming back on November 25

Main event is Nakamura vs Mahal inside steel cage

Do you think this feud will continue after HIAC

    1. I think so because they could do a Jinder Mahal team versus a Shinsuke Nakamura team at the Survivor Series if they wanted to keep it going.

Only problem I see with this idea is they don't seem to have a Universal Championship match on the card (unless Strowman wins it).

  2. Having watched Smackdown this past Tuesday I couldn't help feeling that Jinder's promo came across as slightly "racist" in nature with a couple of the comments he made...

Was this just me? And could you see them punishing Jinder as a result of this by having him get squashed by Nakamura at HIAC?

    1. He was following a script, so don't see why he would be punished.

  3. A bit late of a response but I hope Jinder is going to lose the title despite that India tour.

It was revealed that Jinder's run as a WWE Champion didn't help increase the interest of the India market at all. If anything it made it worse as Indians still largely prefer Cena and Reigns over Mahal.

And to be honest, he is a terrible, terrible champ, one of if not even to worst WWE Champion. I hope the experiment ends at Hell in a Cell and Jinder will finally lose the belt to someone with actual credibility.
