As covered over the weekend - Kambi's oddsmakers priced up markets where customers could bet whether a match would end up being rated above, below or exactly on the number of stars that the bookmaker had set. Every match - other than Elias versus Jason Jordan because it was a late addition - was covered by the compiler, so - in this post - I'll look at how the betting went and see whether the punters were on the right side or not.
Sasha Banks .vs. Alicia Fox
The customers were obviously, for want of a better term, banking on this one to go over.
The line was set at one-and-three-quarter stars with the 'Over' at 6/5. It was cut to 1/2 by 6pm BST on Sunday afternoon and then - not so long after that - the oddsmakers pushed the line up to two stars.
The winning side was the 'Over' as the bout received ** 1/4.
Asuka .vs. Emma
Asuka's Raw roster debut was given two-and-a-half stars by the newsletter's editor. This was a star-and-a-half shorter than their match at NXT TakeOver London a couple of years ago.
Unlike the first match on the card, the punters were immediately backing 'Under'.
The line was initially set at 3.25 stars. Going in, many - myself included - thought the bout would be one-sided to have Asuka's first main roster bout a dominant one. Those of us who thought this is how she would be booked were wrong. However, those who based their under bets using this theory lucked out.
This was another market where the oddsmakers had to change the line on Sunday evening. As you can see, with the 'Under' descending from 7/5 to 2/5, they trimmed the line by one quarter of a star a few hours before the event.
Cruiserweight Tag Team Match
The 'Over' was the winning side as Dave Meltzer handed it three stars in his write-up.
WWE Raw Women's Championship
Meltzer thought the Raw Women's Championship match was worthy of two-and-three-quarter stars.
As you can see, the bookie had the line spot on. However, there is no way of telling which side the punters were on because there were no evident price cuts across the times when I checked in with all of the markets. I'd have to call this one a win for the bookie because - if I had to guess - I think the 'Exactly 2.75 Stars' would have been the least attractive pick of the three for anyone looking to have a bet on this match.
WWE Cruiserweight Championhip
The market for Enzo Amore's Cruiserweight Championship victory over Kalisto is another that remained stationary over the weekend.
The line was set at two stars. The match was rated one-and-three-quarters so anyone who backed the 'Under' at 9/10 will have the winning betting slip when this is settled.
Finn Balor .vs. AJ Styles
We now know that this match was given four-and-a-quarter stars, but let's see how the betting went.
The punters backed the match to go 'Under 4.50 Stars' because it started off at EVENS on Saturday morning and descended throughout the weekend before closing at 1/2 on Sunday morning. They were evidently on the correct side.
5-on-3 Handicap TLC Match
Another match you should already know the score of is the main event as it tied with Balor .vs. Styles with four-and-a-quarter stars.
I plan to cover the Observer Star Ratings betting markets for the upcoming Survivor Series. Markets for the Brock Lesnar .vs. Jinder Mahal bout were released over the weekend. You can read about them in this post.
Dave, Meltz gave the AJ/Balor match 4.25 stars
