Think Mahal Is Dropping The Title On Tuesday? Read On...

9:45PM BST Update: The market that I wrote about in the below post has now been taken off the board.

Earlier this evening, Shane McMahon announced - via Twitter - that Jinder Mahal will defend his WWE Championship against AJ Styles at the Smackdown taping from Manchester on Tuesday night.

This is a diversion from the Styles versus Rusev match that was planned. It has obviously caused some to wonder whether there's more to it than meets the eye.

If anyone out there thinks that there is a chance that the decision was made so AJ Styles wins the WWE Championship from the titleholder next week, then I recommend checking out Kambi's 'Champion After Jinder Mahal' market.

AJ Styles is a 3/4 joint-favourite, along with John Cena, in the market where you can have a punt on the next WWE Champion after Jinder. However, if you move beyond that and scroll down to the 'Date Listed Participant Loses Title' market, you can find 'Between First Day After SummerSlam, But Before Survivor Series' at 10/1.

I've had a small bet on it because the odds were appealing, but I'm not sold at all.

  1. So, if Styles by chance wins WWE championship on Smackdown, do you think it will effect Cena vs Mahal plans at Wrestlemania

    1. It took them two days to change from AJ Styles/Rusev to AJ Styles/Mahal.

So, anything months in advance is fair game!

This is why I've been prefacing anything I've written about Cena vs Mahal with an 'if this is the plan'.
