Undertaker Betting Favourite To Oppose John Cena At WrestleMania 34

The Undertaker is now a 7/4 favourite to be John Cena's opponent at WrestleMania 34.

In a post published on Thursday morning, I noted that the Paddy Power Sportsbook had priced up a market where its customers could have a punt on who they believe will face Cena on April 8th. At the time they were first installed, both Batista and AJ Styles were joint-favourites with prices of 5/2.

The Undertaker, who had teased retirement at the close of WrestleMania 33, was available at 7/2 at the time of Thursday's post.

It's worth repeating that Dave Meltzer has reported that the current plan for Cena is to have a huge match on the show.

This could potentially rule out a bout against the current WWE Champion, AJ Styles.

New selections have also been added in Shane McMahon (9/1) and Kenny Omega (10/1).

  1. Cena is being advertised for Raw TVs after Royal Rumble, so we can probably rule him out from winning the match or facing any SmackDown Live superstar. If Dave is right (and I have my doubts), Undertaker would seem to be the best bet. I would like to see a price for Samoa Joe.

    1. Cena is also booked for FastLane (Smackdown), though.

    2. Would be interesting to see Joe, but I don't think this fits the criteria of a match bigger than for Championship even though I would like to see it

    3. That "bigger than for the WWE title" stip only matters if you believe Dave's reporting.

    4. Also, David, I can't find Cena advertised for Fastlane anywhere, but he is advertised for Raw's Elimination Chamber. Is that what you meant?

    5. No, I meant Fast Lane.

Go check out the Twitter account of the Nationwide Arena, where the show is being held. It states that Cena is going to be there making a 'special guest appearance'.

  2. This is the most intriguing match up. If it does go through andit is indeed takers last match or a retirement match. I just feel Cena should win imo. What do you think Dave?

    1. If this is the match and Taker's done after this year, they should promote it as his farewell or something and he should go out with a win.

    2. Yeah thats a valid point but i feel if Vince plans to give a Cena his 17th title sometime next year. I think this match should give him some momentum whenever he returns from his hiatus.

    3. I think it should be more about giving Taker a proper send-off, imo.

    4. If this is the match, of course.

    5. yeah your right. This match is not confirmed and of course things could change like last year with an awful mixed tag team match that he was involved in.

  3. Undertaker now even money. The only thing that gives me pause is that it would brutalize Roman Reigns and his Universal title main event (what does it matter that Reigns beat Taker last year if he can just come back, it's the matchup of the only two guys to beat Taker at Mania...with Taker on the card, etc). But they've shown a willingness to put Reigns in a position to fail in the past, so...

    1. i totally agree. But its Vince. I am not sure why Vince is so obessed about this match. Taker is past it.
