NXT TakeOver: Chicago 2018 Star Ratings O/U Betting Results

Last week, the oddsmakers from Kambi published a trio of Wrestling Observer star ratings over/under markets for three bouts that took place at NXT TakeOver: Chicago. The ratings for these matches were released yesterday when Dave Meltzer's review of the show was printed in this week's issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

You can see the lines and the results of the markets that were released by Kambi in the table below.

Ricochet's win over Velveteen Dream was given four-and-a-quarter stars by the reviewer. This was spot on with the estimate that was made by Kambi's line-maker.

The table below shows how the betting went for this particular market.

The majority of customers evidently thought that there was a strong chance the bout would receive less than the line. The odds were cut from 17/20 to 7/10 by Saturday night.

'Exactly 4.25 Stars' was the right selection. It rose from 41/20 to 47/20 in this period.

The remaining two markets fell under their respective lines.

Aleister Black's NXT Chamtpionship defence against Lars Sullivan was given a line of 3.75 stars by the oddsmakers. It was graded three-and-a-quarter by Meltzer.

Unlike the Ricochet .vs. Velveteen Dream match, the majority seem to have backed the right side as the 'Under' went from 4/5 to 7/10 across the four days the market was available.

Tomasso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano pulled out a five star match at April's TakeOver. Therefore, the bookie set the rematch's line at 4.75.

The odds for the 'Under' fell to 4/5 by Saturday night. Those that forced the bookie to make the adjustments were on the right side as the match fell half a star short of equalling April's rating.

NXT wasn't the only Observer specials that were put up for last weekend's events. I wrote about the Money in the Bank 2018 O/U markets in this post.

Hopefully, there'll be more Observer Star Ratings markets for future NXT shows.
