Rhodes .vs. Lesnar II Markets Published

Cody Rhodes has opened as BetOnline's favourite to beat Brock Lesnar when they meet at WWE Night of Champions in two weeks from Saturday.

The sportsbook is currently offering Rhodes at -250 while his opponent is +175.

To contrast - Paddy Power lists Lesnar as a -250 fave (2/5 UK) in a market available over here in Europe. The firm has cast Rhodes as an underdog with odds of 13/8 (+163 Approx US).

At last weekend's WWE Backlash show, Rhodes scored a pinfall victory over Lesnar, which was - to put it bluntly - made to look like Rhodes had fluked it. 

The way Rhodes won was done to set up a rematch. The wheels were set in motion for Rhodes/Lesnar II on Monday night when the latter attacked The American Nightmare on Raw.

In other WWE-related betting news, BetOnline has also installed a market for the NXT Championship match that will air on the WWE Network a day after Night of Champions.

The current titleholder, Carmelo Hayes, is -1,000 to the former champion's +500.

Also on the May 28th is a tournament final to crown a new NXT Women's Champion following Indi Hartwell's move to the Raw brand which lead to her relinquishing the NXT strap.

NXT Stand And Deliver '23 Betting Update For Saturday Afternoon

As promised in the most recent post (in which I went through all of BetOnline's WrestleMania 39 Match Markets), here are all of the notes I've been able to make for the NXT Stand and Deliver event that will start in a few hours from now.

NXT North American Championship 5-Way
The market for the NXT North American Championship five-way has adjusted a couple of occasions. Dragon Lee's odds were shortened on both of those occasions. He had started out at +500 on the morning of March 30th, but was down into +450 a few hours later. Then - when I visited the sportsbook's website last night - I noticed Dragon Lee's odds were +400.

The other Lee - titleholder, Wes - has also had a price reduction. As the favourite, he has fallen from -150 into -200 in the few days this market was available.

NXT Tag Team Championship
Gallus has moved in from -120 into -130 in the betting for their NXT Tag Team Championship defence against The Family (D'Angelo and Lorenzo) and The Creed Bros.

Schism .vs. Chase University
There has been no significant activity on the market for the mixed tag match with Chase University on the line.

The team comprised of Chase U members has been priced +300. Schism is favoured with a price of -500.

NXT Women's Tag Team Championship
The market for the women's tag titles started out with the champs at +700 below Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn (-2,000). However, a couple of days ago, the website stopped accepting wagers on Kiana James and Fallon Henley. 

The titleholders remain off the board as of the time of writing.

NXT Women's Championship
Roxanne Perez's odds to win the NXT Women's Championship ladder match were moved from -200 into -300 sometime before 10:10PM BST last night. 

Grayson Waller .vs. Johnny Gargano
Starting out as the match underdog, Johnny Gargano has dropped from +300 into -220 over the three-plus weeks customers have been able to wager on this unsanctioned match.

Gargano's opponent - Grayson Waller - is currently at +160 after starting out -500 last month.

NXT Championship
Carmelo Hayes is another wrestler to start as an underdog, but quickly become a favourite.

In this case, he was +250 to win against NXT Champion - Bron Breakker. Then, within a couple of days, he had fallen into favouritism. 

Every single time the market has been readjusted has been in favour of the challenger. As a result of this, Breakker has been pushed from -400 to +200 over the three weeks.

NXT Stand and Deliver '23 Betting Update For March 30

Here are some notes concerning BetOnline's markets for Saturday's NXT show.

BetOnline Publishes New NXT Stand and Deliver Markets

BetOnline has added new match markets to its coverage of Saturday's NXT Stand and Deliver show.

The eight-person mixed tag team match has Schism listed as favourites to win the match and gain control of Chase University. 

Those looking for Chase U to win can find them at +300.

NXT Women's Champion, Roxanne Perez, is a -200 favourite for her defence against Zoey Stark (+200), Tiffany Stratton (+250), Gigi Dolin (+300), Lyra Valkyria (+900) and Indi Hartwell (+900) in a ladder match.

Wes Lee is -150 to retain the NXT North American Championship against Ilja Dragunov (+250), JD McDonagh (+350), Axiom (+350) and Dragon Lee (+500) in a fatal five-way.

Hayes Now -300
Carmelo Hayes is now a -300 favourite for his challenge against NXT Champion - Bron Breakker.

As can be seen - in the table above - Hayes' odds have declined every time I've recorded adjustments to the market. He had started out as a +250 underdog.

With Hayes' price moving in, Breakker has risen from -400 favourite to +200.

It's once again time for a deep dive into the NXT and WWE markets from BetOnline for next weekend's events. 

NXT Stand and Deliver 2023

Only one market for the NXT show set for a week tomorrow has changed since I last posted an update.

The Family's odds have lowered from +150 into +120 in the market for the NXT Tag Team Championship. 

As a result, the bookmakers have moved The Creeds up from +300 to +400 but have kept the titleholders, Gallus, as -120 faves.

As of the time of writing, BetOnline has three other markets available for the event. The prices remain unchanged from when I last covered them. Here are the current prices for those checking in for the first time:

US Championship

The market for Austin Theory's United States Championship defence against John Cena is still where it has been since March 8th. 

Theory is -400 to Cena's +250.

Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship
Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens are now -4,000 favourites to beat The Usos in the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship match. Their odds were moved in sometime between last night and today. The favourites were initially priced at -2,000.

The Usos have risen from +700 to +900.

WWE Smackdown Women's Championship
Rhea Ripley is still a -1,000 favourite to beat Charlotte Flair (+500) in the Smackdown Women's Championship market. 

WWE Raw Women's Championship

Both Asuka and WWE Raw Women's Champion - Bianca Belair - are at pick 'em in the market for their meeting.

Belair's odds have been on the decline for all but two of the price changes I've been able to record since the market went live. 

WWE Intercontinental Championship

In a post published on Wednesday, I noted that the market for the triple threat match - for Gunther's Intercontinental Championship -  had initially sided with the challengers because Sheamus (+135 into +130) and Drew McIntyre (+500 into +400) had both shortened.

I was surprised at the interest in Sheamus and McIntyre because - with the bout consisting of a heel champion against two babyface challengers coupled with it being established that Gunther wanted to have a singles match - the odds are stacked against the heel titleholder which often means he will sneak out the W.

With that said, the most recent move has seen Gunther slide from -115 into -125.

Six-Woman Tag Team Match

The last time this market moved was four days ago. 

Becky Lynch, Lita and Trish Stratus are -400 favourites over Damage CTRL (+200).

Edge .vs. Finn Balor

The main focus of yesterday's update was the descent of Finn Balor's odds to beat Edge inside Hell in a Cell. The decline has continued and now sees both men's prices at -120 apiece.

Balor had started off as the match underdog despite being a favourite in betting markets available from rival sportsbooks for weeks.

Seth Rollins .vs. Logan Paul
It has been a couple of days since the market for Seth Rollins .vs. Logan Paul has moved in any way. As of right now, Rollins is -500 to Paul's +300.

For what it's worth, Rollins had started out as the underdog when the market was initially priced up.

Brock Lesnar .vs. Omos    

Just like the above market, it has been a couple of days since there has been anything to report on the Brock Lesnar .vs. Omos market.

Lesnar is a -1,000 favourite. A decision for Omos will award customers at odds of +500. As you'll see below, it appears as though some have risked it on the underdog because Omos' price has lowered from +700.

Men's Fatal-Four Way Tag Team Match

The 'Men's WrestleMania Showcase' market has changed yet again. This time, just like the last time, the selections of 'Braun Strowman and Ricochet' and 'Street Profits' have lowered with the former moving in from +150 into +100 and the latter now into +200 from +250.

As noted in other posts, The Street Profits have been the betting faves in the markets that can be found from Betfair / Paddy Power.

Starting out as the favourites, The Viking Raiders have now moved out to +120 while Alpha Academy's price has now doubled since I first began to follow the movements.

Undisputed WWE Universal Championship

The market for Cody Rhodes' quest to unseat Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship remains with the challenger at -550 to Reigns' +325.

WrestleMania Weekend Odds Update For March 19

It has been three days since I last wrote about the NXT and WWE markets available from BetOnline for WrestleMania Weekend, so I thought it's time for an extensive update pointing out all of the changes that I've recorded since I began following the betting on each market.

Starting with Stand and Deliver, and ending with the odds for the markets currently posted for WrestleMania, I'll go through each offering - as they appear on the BetOnline website - and point out where the consensus appears to be wagering with less than two weeks to go before everything kicks off.

NXT Stand and Deliver

NXT Championship Match
Carmelo Hayes remains a -200 favourite to beat the NXT Champion - Bron Breakker. Hayes was a +200 underdog when I first began to follow the moves almost two weeks ago.

Breakker has drifted out from -400 to +150.

Johnny Gargano .vs. Grayson Waller
Starting out as a +300 underdog on March 3rd, Johnny Gargano plummeted into favouritism within a couple of days and is currently -220 to best Grayson Waller in what has now become a grudge match.

Waller, on the other hand, has moved from -500 to +160 in this period.

NXT Women's Tag Team Championship
The market for the NXT Women's Tag Team Championship match is one of the newest to be added to BetOnline's coverage of Stand and Deliver. 

Kiana James and Fallon Henley remain at +700 for their defence against Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn (-2,000).

WWE WrestleMania 39

Undisputed WWE Universal Championship
The market for Cody Rhodes' challenge for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship had been readjusted sometime between Friday night and yesterday evening. It moved, once again, in favour of Rhodes because his price fell from -500 into -550 while Roman Reigns moved out to +325 from +300.

When I last wrote about changes to this particular market, I noted that the champions' odds had fallen into the aforementioned +300 from +325, so both selections have returned to prices from the latter part of February.

Brock Lesnar .vs. Omos
Brock Lesnar is still a -1,500 favourite to topple Omos when they meet in two weeks. He was initially -2,000 to Omos' +700. However, Omos has seemingly been backed into +600.

In my opinion, going by how their interaction went on Monday's Raw, it seems clear that Lesnar is perfectly marked as a short-priced favourite because Omos got the better of his Mania opponent so far in the build.

Seth Rollins .vs. Logan Paul
Seth Rollins' odds to beat Logan Paul have dropped once again.

As you can see above, Rollins was moved into -400 by yesterday afternoon. Before that, customers would have found him at -300. He had kicked off as an underdog.

Logan Paul, after starting out at -200, is now +250.

Edge .vs. Finn Balor
Another selection which fell sometime between Friday and yesterday afternoon is the one for Finn Balor to beat Edge inside the Cell.

At the start of the week, when the market was installed, Balor was +200 His odds had dipped into +125 a few hours after that and were lowered into +120 yesterday.

With Balor moving in, Edge's price as the betting favourite has risen from -300 to -160 across the few days the market has been available.

Six-Woman Tag Team Match
Damage CTRL's odds have halved since I first began following the betting of the six-woman tag team match. Starting out at +400 on March 7th, the trio has made stops at +425 (March 10th), +375 (March 12th), +275 (March 16th) and - as of yesterday - +250.

Their opponents - Becky Lynch, Lita and Trish Stratus - remain favourites. However, their price has moved from -1,000 to -400 as Damage CTRL's prices have declined.

WWE Raw Women's Championship
There had been a lot of activity in the market for Bianca Belair's WWE Raw Women's Championship defence against Asuka when betting first began on this match. However, it has been somewhat quiet for almost a week.

Despite a couple of occasions where Asuka's odds - as favourite - have moved in, the majority of adjustments have sided with the titleholder. 

You'll notice, in the table, that the two selections are back where they were when I first began to track the market on February 19th.

WWE Smackdown Women's Championship
If I thought the Raw Women's Championship market had been quiet with no activity for almost a week, then the other women's title market is even more mute. It has not moved since the market was reinserted after spending some time off the board at the start of this month.

Rhea Ripley is still at the -800 she fell into, from -700, on February 27th.

The current champion - Charlotte Flair - has moved out from +300 to +425 during the time I began following the market.

WWE US Championship
The Austin Theory .vs. John Cena market still lists Austin Theory at -400; a price he moved out to from -500 after a day of betting.

Cena remains a +250 underdog. He was initially at +300.

Another 2 Mania Weekend Markets Opened Plus More

It didn't take long for a new WrestleMania 39 match market to see some action.

Upon visiting the BetOnline Sportsbook's website yesterday evening, I noticed that the firm had published a couple of new markets for WrestleMania Weekend. 

The oddsmakers had installed Edge as a -300 favourite to beat Finn Balor (+200) in the Hell in a Cell match which was confirmed on Monday night's episode of Raw.

However, when I checked in this morning, I noticed that there had been a change within the twelve or so hours since my previous visit.

Balor's odds are now down to +125 while Edge, who still remains a favourite (for now?), has moved up to -165.

I added the 'for now?' in parenthesis because it's worth pointing out that European sportsbook - Paddy Power - lists Balor as its favourite.

The other new market from BetOnline is for the NXT Women's Tag Team Championship match that is set for April 1st's Stand and Deliver show.

Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn have been cast as -2,000 betting favourites for their title challenge against Fallon Henley and Kiana James (+700).

On the topic of women's tag team wrestling, I once again noticed that Damage CTRL's odds to beat Becky Lynch, Lita and Trish Stratus in a trios match at WrestleMania have lowered.

The heels are now +275 after falling in from the most recent +375. They were initially at +500 when I began following the market over a week ago.

As a result of Damage CTRL moving in, their opponents' price, as favourites, has risen from -650 to -450. They were originally at -1,000.

The remaining WrestleMania 39 Weekend markets are unchanged as of the time of writing.

Gargano And Hayes Now Betting Favourites For NXT Stand & Deliver '23

Johnny Gargano and Carmelo Hayes have become the betting favourites to win their respective matches at NXT's next big event.

On Wednesday, I pointed out that the oddsmakers from BetOnline had released a couple of markets for the April 1st event. At the time, Gargano was a +300 underdog in his market whilst Hayes was +250 to win the NXT Championship match against Bron Breakker.

Gargano was revealed as Grayson Waller's opponent in an angle on Tuesday's episode of NXT. In the segment, Waller was calling out Shawn Michaels. This resulted in Michaels bringing Gargano back to the brand for the event which will be held on WrestleMania Weekend.

When I covered the market on Wednesday, Waller was  -500, but is now out to +100.

In the NXT Championship market, the challenger has fallen from +250 into -180 since Wednesday and, as a result of this, Bron Breakker has jumped out to +140 from -400.

Browsing The NXT Vengeance Day '23 Odds

I have been keeping track of BetOnline's markets for tonight's NXT Vengeance Day show. Here is everything I've been able to note right up to 7:00PM GMT this evening.

NXT Women's Championship
The betting has sided with Roxanne Perez to successfully retain her NXT Women's Championship in a triple threat match against Jacy Jayne and Gigi Dolin.

As you'll see below, the titleholder started out as a -1,250 favourite when the market was released on January 16th. The champion's odds have since dropped into -2,000 with a short stop at -1,400 in-between.

With Perez's price lowered, her opponents' have obviously increased with Jayne jumping out to +700 from +500 and Dolin increasing from +1,000 to +1,200.

Apollo Crews .vs. Carmelo Hayes
Starting out as a -1,000 favourite, Carmelo Hayes is now -2,000 to win the best of three falls match against  Apollo Crews.

A win for Crews will pay out at odds of +700. He had started at +500 when the market was first created a couple of days ago.

NXT Women's Tag Team Championship

I first came across the market for the NXT Women's Tag Team Title match a week last Wednesday. At the time, the titleholders - Katana Chance and Kayden Carter - were favoured with a price of -500. Their challengers, Fallon Henley and Kiana James, were +300.

When I checked in Thursday, I noticed the champions' odds had dropped into -600. Then, a day later, they had decreased into -800 and have once again moved in sometime between 11:30AM and 7:20PM GMT today when they fell into -1,250.

The Henley and James selection is currently priced at +550.

NXT Tag Team Championship
On this week's episode of NXT, Chase University was added to the match for the NXT Tag Team Championship resulting in the earlier market for a triple threat becoming obsolete. The table below consists of the prices for the triple threat and for the four-way.

As you'll see above, Duke Hudson and Andre Chase fell from +1,000 into +450 within a day. They weren't the only selections to have shortened in that period, however. That's because Pretty Deadly slipped from +250 into +200.

Sometime between 11:30AM and 7:00PM GMT today, the current titleholders - The New Day - became odds-on favourites moving in from +150 second-faves to -125.

Gallus, who were +100 favourites, moved up to +200 when Pretty Deadly and Chase University were both reduced yesterday.

NXT North American Championship
Dijak's odds to beat NXT North American Champion - Wes Lee - went from -200 into -300 a couple of days ago. 

A decision in favour of the titleholder is priced +200. This is up from the +150 from when the market was initially priced up in mid-January.

NXT Championship
The market for the steel cage match for the NXT Championship has been available since January 16th and has not been adjusted at all since it was published.

Bron Breakker is a -700 favourite to retain. The challenger - Grayson Waller - is +400.

NXT Deadline Betting Favourites

Here are the closing betting favourites for tonight's NXT Deadline.

A Look Through BetOnline's NXT Deadline Odds

With the Ring of Honor show now in progress, I'm turning my attention to the markets for tonight's NXT Deadline show.

BetOnline first published a market for the NXT Championship match last month. The oddsmakers followed that up by creating markets for the rest of the card sometime this week.

In regards to the NXT Title match, Bron Breakker has been the punters' choice to successfully retain the strap against Apollo Crews.

Starting off as a -250 favourite in late-November, Breakker is now being offered at -1,250. As a result, a win for Crews will now pay out at odds of +550. That's up from the earliest price of +150.

BetOnline lists Carmelo Hayes as a -140 favourite to win the men's Iron Survivor Challenge Match.  However, he had started out at -150 despite dropping into -180 sometime before this afternoon.

You'll notice, in the table below, that it's Grayson Waller whose odds have been on the greatest slide. He kicked off at +500, but was down into +300 sometime before 2:20PM GMT today. He has since fallen into +125.

There has also been a significant drop for one of the selections in the ladies' Survivor Challenge Match with Indi Hartwell plummeting from +500 into -125 favouritism.

BetOnline initially had Roxanne Perez as the match favourite, but she has moved up from -140 to +100 following the interest in Hartwell.

Isla Dawn is favoured to beat Alba Fyre in their meeting. Dawn was -200 when I began to follow the market on Thursday evening, but had dropped into -400 when I visited this afternoon. She has since lowered into -500.

With Isla Dawn being backed, BetOnline has placed Alba Fyre at +300. She was initially +150.

Current NXT Tag Team Champions - Pretty Deadly - have been backed to beat The New Day. 

The titleholders were -250 on Thursday evening, but were moved into -300 by this afternoon. Their drop continued this evening when they were slashed into -600.

On the other side of the market, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods have drifted out from +170 underdogs to +350.

A Look At BetOnline's NXT Worlds Collide '22 Odds

BetOnline is taking bets on the two unification matches that are scheduled for the NXT Worlds Collide event that will take place a week from  Sunday.

Both matches will see NXT and NXT UK championships merge.

Now that the NXT UK brand will no longer exist following the event, it is unsurprising to see that customers have gambled on the NXT UK champions to lose their contests. 

Bron Breakker, the current NXT Champion, will face the UK's Tyler Bate. When I came across the market last night, BetOnline listed Breakker as a -300 favourite over the +200 for a victory by Bate.

As of this morning, the NXT Champion's odds have fallen into -500 with Bate moving out to +300.

Similar betting patterns exist in the market for the a women's triple threat match which will have NXT Women's Champion - Mandy Rose - and NXT UK Women's Titleholder - Meiko Satomura - share the ring with Blair Davenport to unify the two belts.

NXT's Mandy Rose, who was installed as a favourite, has now dropped into -200 from -160 while the UK champ has been pushed out from +200 from +150. 

Davenport has stalled at +450.

The closure of NXT UK understandably has the bookies and punters siding with the wrestlers from the original NXT brand, so I am intrigued to see whether either match has a surprise outcome.

The Case Of The Missing Mania 38 Star Rating Plus More

The current edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter was published this morning. It features Dave Meltzer's reviews of the shows from WrestleMania weekend. However, there was something missing from Meltzer's report of the first night of WrestleMania which could potentially affect some bets that were placed on the Seth Rollins versus Cody Rhodes match.

Back on March 16th, Kambi released a Wrestling Observer Over/Under star rating market for the match with the line set at four-and-a-quarter stars. As you can see below, the market appeared to have been fairly active with the price of the 'Under' dropping as the weeks turned into hours ahead of match-time.

The reason why there is potential controversy over this market (and others) is due to Meltzer's report accidentally missing a star rating despite the writer's sentiment that Rhodes and Rollins had arguably the best match over the two nights with the Becky Lynch .vs. Bianca Belair contest also being in the running.

Belair's win over Lynch was graded four-and-a-half stars by Meltzer. Therefore, I felt that it was safe to guess that Rollins/Rhodes would get at least a similar number. If not more.

A lot of people have been discussing the missing rating on the Wrestling Observer message board and on Twitter today. The official Wrestling Observer Newsletter Twitter account has, within the last few minutes, revealed that Meltzer was meant to have given the match four-and-a-half stars.

The review has not been amended as of the time of writing. Per Kambi's rules the results are 'settled according to the Wrestling Observer star ratings as published on the next edition issued following the completion of the listed event(s)'. Therefore, the official channel of the Observer's Twitter account may not be a factor for settlement.

Without knowing for sure how the Rollins/Rhodes market will be settled, for the remainder of this post, I'll focus on the markets that have no ambiguity over the missing star rating.

As you can see, in the results table above, Sami Zayn versus Johnny Knoxville also didn't receive a rating. This, I surmise, is due to the way it was presented. Any Over/Under wagers on that meeting should end up voided along with any bets in an head-to-head special which asked customers whether Zayn/Knoxville or Bobby Lashley versus Omos would get the most stars in the review.

The above head-to-head has a winner with Becky Lynch .vs. Bianca Belair beating Charlotte Flair .vs. Ronda Rousey by two-and-a-half stars.

Lynch .vs. Belair (and Rollins .vs. Rhodes, if you want to consider that match as well) became the 'Highest Rated WrestleMania 38 Match' in the market which had WWE's best contest of the weekend going up against the best Ring of Honor could offer.

To tell the story of the win for 'Highest Rated ROH Match', I should point out that Kambi also had Over/Under markets for a selection of matches that were on the line-up for Supercard of Honor XV which took place the night before the first act of WrestleMania 38.

A score of five stars was awarded to the match which saw FTR beat The Briscoes to win the ROH tag straps.

Another event from the weekend, which had Over/Under star ratings markets, was Saturday's NXT Stand and Deliver 2022. All of the results can be found in the table below.

The main show opener, which saw Cameron Grimes win the North American Championship in a multi-man ladder match, was given the most stars for that show. Its four-and-a-quarter stars secured a win over the WrestleMania closer - Roman Reigns .vs. Brock Lesnar - which scored three-and-a-quarter stars.

All three selections were 5/4 each for that market.

The final head-to-head for WrestleMania asked customers whether AJ Styles and Edge would get match of the event over all of the other contests.

When it opened, the eventual winner - 'Any Other WrestleMania 38 Match' - was a 5/2 underdog. It was backed into 2/1 within a day.

Styles versus Edge received three-and-three-quarters in the report.

There were three prop bets available for the show. All of them asked about the possibility of matches graded four stars or higher.

The first asked whether at least two night one matches would receive four stars or higher in Meltzer's write-up. Due to the confusion over how Kambi will grade the Rollins .vs. Rhodes meeting, it could go either way because the Lynch .vs. Belair was also on that night's card.

I believe the other two markets are less confusing to call.

In the second, customers were once again asked whether there would be over one-and-a-half matches graded four stars or higher. This time the focus was on Sunday's portion of the event.

'No', which was a 27/25 underdog to the 4/6 for 'Yes', should be declared the winning selection because only one contest from Sunday received at least four stars.

The match in question was the opener which saw RK-Bro successfully retain the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship against Alpha Academy and The Street Profits in a three-way. It scored four-and-a-quarter stars.

Proposition three was specific to the entire event. It asked whether there would be over three-and-a-half matches rated four stars or more across the two nights.

Even if Kambi were to add or subtract Rollins/Rhodes from the equation, WrestleMania 38 had under four matches with a rating of four stars or higher. Therefore, 'No' should clearly win.
