Seth Rollins Set For Royal Rumble Match And A Note About An Incorrect Report

Seth Rollins will be in this year's Royal Rumble match.

WWE published a tweet in the early hours of this morning showing a clip of Rollins after he wrestled on last night's house show in Columbus, Georgia. In the video, Rollins adds his name to the building list of participants for the 27th January match and vowed to once again become a double champion - pointing out his intent to beat Intercontinental titleholder, Dean Ambrose, and then WWE Unviversal Champion - Brock Lesnar.

The, to steal a line from the WWE phrasebook, 'laser-focus' on Lesnar, and his title, make me even more confident that the match will be for the Universal Championship. This is despite me thinking Braun Strowman should be coming out of the Lesnar feud with the strap.

It's all about Rollins gunning for Lesnar and the Universal Championship now.

Rollins is still an even-money favourite to win the battle royal in the market that is available from Sky Bet. He is the 10/11 fave to succeed 'The Beast' as Universal Champion in another market available from the firm.

On the topic of the 'Universal Champion After Brock Lesnar' special, I'd like to point something out that bothers me about a certain website that has covered recent wrestling betting news.

The site - ComicBook.com - released an article yesterday stating that Sky Bet had 'just posted' the market and Seth Rollins is the 'overwhelming favourite'. The only true part about this part of the article is that Rollins is the favourite.

He hasn't always been favoured.

The market was installed days following Brock Lesnar's title win over Strowman in November.

Rollins was 7/1 on November 10th and - as you can see in the table below - I've been able to record his price tumble ever since. His current price of 10/11 was available when the market was republished on Wednesday. Not yesterday.

Seth Rollins' Odds To Be Next WWE Universal Champion

I try not to worry about what any other website is doing, but it irks me when I see reporters not working with the facts and making up their own narratives. This is not the first time the website has done a porr job of reporting on wrestling betting news.

The 'story' - because that's what reporters are meant to be looking for rather than making one up - is that Seth Rollins' price has been on the descent for close to two months. It's more interesting than the narrative indicating the market has only just opened with the The Architect favoured ahead of Lesnar's next opponent - Braun Strowman.
