Rey Mysterio's Relinquishing Of The US Strap Settles A Couple Of Sky Bet Markets

Rey Mysterio's relinquishing of the WWE United States Championship to Samoa Joe now means that a couple of Sky Bet's markets will be settled.

Following Money in the Bank 2019, the firm refreshed its 'Next Title To Change Hands' market in which customers can gamble on the championship that they believe will move to new owners.

Seeing as Mysterio had just won the strap a day earlier, the 'United States Championship' was available at 7/2. It began its descent shortly after reports that the titleholder had injured his shoulder began to circulate.

The selection's final stop was at 1/2 - this is the price it closed at yesterday night before Raw.

Next WWE Title To Change Hands - Version 4

This was the fourth version of Sky Bet's 'Next Title To Change Hands'. The first two were settled on the Smackdown Tag Team Championship and the next two were settled with the US Championship changing hands.

Joe's claiming of the title on last night's show will also settle the company's market which pays out on Mysterio's successor as United States Champion.

Considering that there was ambiguity over Mysterio's win against Joe (his shoulders weren't down for the complete three-count) and there was a post-match beatdown by the former champ, the oddsmakers had Joe as a favourite to succeed Rey for the title.

The eventual winner was EVS when I first came across the market on Tuesday May 21st. The selection began a slide and was down to 8/15 by the end of the month and remained at this price all the way to yesterday's closure a couple of hours before the show began.
